3 days covid symptoms but still neg covid test - so not covid??

I've sent thread few days ago as wondered if v sore throat/headache could be start of covid. I have also ready a lot of posts of folk who taken few days to test positive.

I am still feeling lousy and have had so little energy too. But really thought if it was covid that I would test positive today. I haven't. And dh and two dd have been well (I have been able to keep away from them though).

But can I now conclude it's not covid but another virus?

On Sunday I have tickets to see a theatre show locally, but had been thinking I wouldn't be able to go but if I feel better in self by Sunday and as Lfts negative, I guess I can just go. (I do realises that the guidelines or for only 3 days or is it 5 ?? days isolation anyway but if I had covid positive test and had symptoms still I wouldn't go).

I know at other times through pandemic there definitely other viruses going around but with the severity of symptoms compared to just a bad cold that this variant is bringing most folk, the fact 1 in 16 have , and it's summer - I just confused . Covid? Not covid?!

Thanks! Kc

loads of people I know have only
tested positive as they have started to feel better! I had symptoms for 4 days before the lft was positive and lots I know are similar

pp thank you. Guess just time will tell! Luckily I do not need go to work and teens now on hol . So I will rest as much as can and test again tomorrow! Not had such a sire throat for ages and it's not bacterial as no white spots. And so exhausted just getting up to go to bathroom! But overall if this is covid and this is now day 3 I am hoping I am lucky not having it to severe (hope I don't regret typing that!)

first time i had it it took days to test positive. The exhaustion was the absolute worst, and i got a very slight positive lft after about 4 days (it then got darker as time went on). I had covid again last week, DS had symptoms at the same time, including a fever, but never tested psotive despite a few lfts, so i don't know if he had it or not, but it's a big coincidence if not, so i guess LFTs aren't always fool proof. I hope you feel better soon

hope you feel better in time for Sunday.
People have been coming into work after 3 days when they are still testing positive as apparently that is the guidelines now so it’s no wonder so many people have got it.

Thefriendlymoth · 22/07/2022 08:10

I currently have more and worse covid symptoms now than I did when I had a positive test last year, but all test are all negative. I think that there are some nasty summer colds/viruses around too so not sure what to think. I have an event this weekend too and am hoping I feel a little more human. Hope you feel better soon OP!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 22/07/2022 08:13

If you're testing negative and feel well enough I would go to the show on Sunday. The symptoms of COVID are the same as many other viruses so it could well be one of those.

UrsulaPandress · 22/07/2022 08:16

I’ve got a hideous chesty cough, aching joints and feel shit. Started during the heatwave and I thought it was hay fever. Did a test yesterday but negative.

Can't be arsed buying another test.

Trixiefirecracker · 22/07/2022 08:20

Might actually not be Covid. Other viruses did not disappear once C19 arrived.

AJ2009 · 22/07/2022 08:25

I had the same experience.

I started to feel really lethargic and had a sore throat, runny/blocked nose, bringing up phlegm. Just thought I had a terrible cold.

Was working still, as all LFT were negative. I did 8 in the space on 1 and half weeks , I have to for work.

However, I am also part of a survey for covid and did a PCR test. This was about two weeks after I first fell ill I was still experiencing symptoms.

PCR came back positive.

I never would have known as no LFT picked up the infection at all. So you may have it but it's not coming up on Test.

WeeHaggisFace · 22/07/2022 08:25

I started with symptoms on the Tuesday but didn't test positive until the Friday

RoofFlower · 22/07/2022 09:51

I just had a bit of a scratchy throat and the feeling like I was starting with a cold for 2 days before I tested positive. If you test negative on Sunday and feel ok then I would go. Obviously not if you are coughing and sneezing all over the place though as you don’t really want to pass on whatever it is you have.

Hi again, thanks for your posts.

Just as an update, tested neg again today (the flowtex only nasal swab).
Throat easier I think. Still no cold symptoms like cough, runny nose appeared though feel a bit chesty just below neck. But the fatigue! I got up this morning, did couple light tasks and feel tired so lying on bed again (luckily my kids older so not that child care to do.... Though the house work still mounts up!!).

But main point is still negative 3 and half full days since symptoms started. So must be something else??! "

There was a time when the 'plus' of getting and recovering from covid would be that at least 'out the way :and get boost of anti bodies. Now though that doesn't seem to apply does it? Esp after watching' independent SAGE meeting in you tube (v interesting. Recommen a watch).

Sounds just the same as me. Very close contact Monday with a friend who tested positive Tuesday, we were outside but we shared a bowl of crisps. Felt fine in last few days, this afternoon the most awful sore throat and fatigue, no runny nose etc, seen no one else or been anywhere either other than supermarket yesterday wearing a mask.

will be interesting to see what happens,

Mummy289 · 24/07/2022 04:42

A month ago my son got covid. We stayed in. I felt awful for 3-4 days I knew I had it but tested negative for 4 days!
once my cold broke I was positive. I knew it was covid as not been any where else. But this new variant takes a bit longer to show.

Icecreamandapplepie · 06/08/2022 19:58

@Kcc73
Did you ever test positive?

We've all got what I would swear is covid but negatives so far.
