Good throat spray please!

This sore throat is probably on a par with how painful tonsillitis was for me many years ago. Can't eat, using a straw to sip soluble paracetamol, water, rehydration solution but even that feels intensely painful.

I've got some Ultra Chloraseptic spray that's meant to numb the throat, helpful for previous sore throats but it's not even touching the sides of this covid one. Tried different sore throat lozenges but nothing really helped.

Any other suggestions for good otc sprays that numb the throat? Can I get anything stronger from the GP on prescription?

Not a spray but I always gargle with soluble aspirin. Just dissolve in about a quarter of a cup of water/squash and gargle as long as possible before swallowing.

Tyrozets!! They were recommended on here and they are brilliant

It’s an over the counter item but it really does work

My doctor told me to get Difflam spray when I had tonsillitis, which worked really well.

It's what the Drs gave Dd2 after her cleft repair works really well, tastes vile if I remember correctly.

I’ve just managed to find a tube that still contained two of them!

Difflam is pretty good. Not a patch on tyrozets which were absolute godsends when a sore throat loomed. No idea why they discontinued them!

Difflam is what helped me last week with my Covid throat.
