Can I have covid if I’m testing negative but have the same symptoms as my children who have tested positive?

My kids had covid 4/5 days ago. they had high temp stomach issues chesty, achy, they all tested positive. Now I feel exact same been up all night with stomach issues, aching all over, runny nose, sore throat. The whole shabang. I tested it’s negative…… could it be covid with a negative test?

From various posts on here and elsewhere it seems a lot aren't testing positive with the current strain for a few days after symptoms start so yes I'd say it's possibly covid

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 07/07/2022 09:47

Forgot to say hope you feel better soon 🌸

PurpleDaisies · 07/07/2022 09:48

Yes, those tests aren’t perfect. I would go on symptoms since your children have had covid so recently.

Awrite · 07/07/2022 09:48

Back in March, I only tested positive on day 4 of (quite horrible) symptoms.

IsletsOfLangerhans · 07/07/2022 11:36

I’m having the same experience. Everyone else in my house has tested positive, one by one, since Sunday. I’ve had symptoms (stuffy head, headaches, tired, body aches and dodgy tummy) but tested negative throughout. Everyone else’s tests have been very obviously positive. The only difference is I’ve not had a temperature or got shivery. I’ve been cautious anyway. But it’s baffling me! Our house is tiny and it’s been impossible to isolate I’ll people. I was hugging youngest before we knew she had covid.

PinkBump2022 · 07/07/2022 14:34

Thanks everyone I also hugged mine while they were poorly without releasing what was wrong as my youngest had been at the doctors and we were told ear infection!

Took me a couple of days of symptoms before I tested positive.

Rashgremlin · 07/07/2022 18:10

Yes, I started with a cough on Sunday and didn't get a (very, very faint) positive until Tuesday. It's been horrible, hoping we're all better very soon.

Ciderandskatesdontmix · 07/07/2022 18:14

Yes definitely. I started feeling rough Tuesday afternoon so tested (NHS worker), negative. Felt worse yesterday but still negative. I tested again this afternoon and now a faint positive, so technically day 3 of symptoms.

tumtitum · 07/07/2022 18:16

I've had covid recently and none of my immediate family have tested positive. However two of them had similar symptoms and worse both before and after me and tested negative throughout. I had six days of very strong positive tests. I think sometimes the tests just don't pick it up!

annlee3817 · 07/07/2022 18:22

Are you doing just the nose swab? I tested negative on the nose only, but positive on the throat one, took a week to get a positive on the nose one

UsernamePain · 07/07/2022 18:37

yes. My daughter tested positive Sunday. I had the same symptoms from Monday, but only tested positive yesterday.

Aksbdt · 07/07/2022 18:38

It took me 3/4 days to test positive after first starting to feel ill so I would say so

Deadringer · 07/07/2022 18:42

I am similar op. My dd has had it for the last week, I have been so careful but started to feel unwell last night, I have a temperature today but I tested negative. Feel crap but I am worried that I am going to get a lot worse. 🙄i am also afraid to touch anything in the house in case I pass it on to everyone else.

BlueMumDays · 07/07/2022 18:44

I've been feeling really rough all week. Sore throat, headache, generally wobbly and clammy etc. I've been testing every day, all negative. Two of my kids have similar symptoms, they tested positive on the first day of feeling unwell.

I think there's more going round than just covid 🤷‍♀️

jinglybell · 07/07/2022 18:53

So 6 family members all tested positive, 1 last week and the others the beginning of this week. I've had symptoms since Sunday and haven't tested positive until this morning.

I've had a sore throat, cough, runny nose, sneezing, fever, chills, exhaustion and now an upset tummy.
All of us have had the same symptoms except the dodgy tummy, only 3 of us have had that.

IsletsOfLangerhans · 08/07/2022 12:36

Just updating to say I’ve finally tested positive, 5 days after symptoms started.

tomatoesomtoast · 10/07/2022 01:56

my daughter had a sore throat and lost voice from Wednesday and did not test positive till the following Monday. by Tuesday she was negative again, so only one day. Her asymptomatic sister tested positive Monday and is still positive. I had a dodgy stomach and three days of headaches last week but have so far tested negative throughout.

BlueMumDays · 11/07/2022 20:24

Update: after feeling rough but testing negative for 7 days, I tested this morning "just in case" because I was going to visit my FIL and it was positive!

No idea whether it was covid making me feel rough last week and it only just showed, or whether I had a mystery illness last week and now symptomless covid this week 🤷‍♀️

dementedpixie · 11/07/2022 20:25

I tested negative on the Wednesday of my symptoms but was then positive on the Thursday

whenwillthemadnessend · 11/07/2022 20:29

Yep I was on day 6 before a positive I test
