My kids tested positive on Friday after we had a txt from school saying there had been cases of covid in school so we tested the kids and all have tested positive. They are not poorly as such. Running around playing still. What day should they be able to go back to school? I can’t keep up with the rules changing all of the time

Monday.

Tuesday? Thought it was three days isolation after positive test for youngsters? So Sat, Sun, Mon isolating and back Tuesday.

Perfect28 · 02/07/2022 17:58

According to advice it would be Tuesday. 3 days for under 18 starting the day after the positive test. However given that most people aren't even testing if they are asymptomatic and keeping them home is a pain you could probably do Monday.

Our school allow positive kids to attend. I would look into your schools policy to see of it different

Assuming England. They can go in on Monday. You don't have to stay off school if you are not unwell.

tiggergoesbounce · 02/07/2022 18:14

Our school states they can return when they no longer have a temp and are well enough to return, or something like that

Im pretty sure its going against their attendance record now as well.

I would probably leave it a few days, probably tuesday to return them if i could

ItsSnowJokes · 02/07/2022 18:16

Tuesday would be the first day back, as the day you test is day zero.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 02/07/2022 18:16

Monday if they're not ill

TimeForLunch · 02/07/2022 18:31

Monday if they are well or just have mild cold symptoms. It's not advised to test under 18s in the first place, as of April this year (in England).

The latest COVID policy is starting to have an effect on staff absence, unsurprisingly. I have Covid now, I feel terrible. Worse than when I’ve had it before. No way can I go to work (primary school). Most kids don’t seem to get it too badly which is why they’re allowed to be in school spreading it to staff, I suppose. It has been a really really tough year for school staff.

Tuesday

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 03/07/2022 21:50

Day 4. Test day used to be day 0. Although gov advice is not to test under 18s so it’s all very muddled.

Monday if they are well.
