Going into work

Hello,
Looking for advice really. Tested positive today for covid and feeling really rough. Have informed boss and explained that even though the rules have now changed I'm not sure I'll be well enough to go in. Unfortunately we're really short staffed and if I don't go in they're going to struggle and have no other management in. I feel pressured to go in, have been told if if I feel that bad that I 'may be able to leave early' but I know that's not the case.
Not sure wether to just suck it up and try my best or put myself first.

Yourself first without a doubt

Put yourself first.

What did you do? You need to think of yourself first, And if other team members get covid from you then in the longer term your work going to struggle more. Hope you ok

Not your problem they are short-staffed. I wouldn’t have even told them it was COVID. I would’ve just told them I was unwell and not coming in. I wouldn’t even test for COVID.

Thanks all. Ended up going in yesterday, was non stop and think I overdid it as have been in bed since! Called in sick today however was told I needed to go in and open unless I could find someone to cover (there is not many key holders) didn't do that and feel a bit pissed off as they're meant to have a duty of care? Would feel awful if I gave it to a colleague or someone else! Presume they're expecting me in tomorrow however I doubt I'll be going in feeling like this

This is insane. I tested positive on Tuesday and have not been in work since then, because I am ill and also don't want to spread it! Please don't go to work when you are ill. I certainly haven't been able to.

SmileyPiuPiu · 03/07/2022 08:36

Put yourself first please. Do everything you can to avoid making your recovery longer. There are so many of us with long covid, you don't want to join us so if there is ANYTHING you can do to rest then do it.

TripleSeptic · 03/07/2022 08:44

That is completely insane. If you're short staffed now, and can't afford one person off, how short staffed are you going to be if the whole team is struck down! It's doing the rounds in my work too, people feeling rough, testing negative for days, finally getting their positive, and by that time the whole team has it. In one office of 6, we have 2 people still at work.
