Upper Back Pain as First Symptom

Has anyone had upper back pain as a first symptom? It's across my back at about chest level and my lungs feel a bit sore. It started late Saturday but became really painful last night.

I'm tired and have a bit of a sore throat but LFTs negative so far.

I haven't had Covid before, despite plenty of exposures. Hugged and had a long conversation with a friend on Friday morning who tested positive the next day.

My neck and shoulders are very sore!

You'll probably know for sure tomorrow when you wake up with the worst sore throat of your life! That's been my experience, anyway. Thinking back, I had a sore back but about waist level. 🤔

Honestly that is what I remember most from covid. Horrendous!! All testing negative at that point, DS didn’t test positive until he was on the mend after 3 horrific days. Pointless! Hope you feel better pronto.

Sore back and nausea was ds's first symptom

Jules912 · 28/06/2022 18:44

I had a sore back, it wasn't the first symptom but is the one that has persisted most,

I have been wandering this as I've had a sore back since Sunday and found out today my friend who I had dinner with Friday tested positive this morning

This was my first symptom both times, really unusual upper back pain that over the next day or so spread over my whole back, then over the next day my entire body, then the fever came on!
I then had a horrendous cough but wasn't actually feeling ill in myself at any point, and no fatigue.
Crazy how differently everyone is affected.

itsgettingweird · 29/06/2022 07:40

I had sore neck and hip and the worst sore throat ever.

I tested positive after 48 hours when I was through the worst but isolated anyway as known it was covid 11/14 people in our office had it at the same time and by then 6 were positive so it was obvious!!!

Suzysuz · 29/06/2022 07:45

I had back and hip pain with headaches for about a week before it moved on to the temperature/no smell/no taste classic early symptoms (caveat this was the strain before the vaccines)

Instantnoodles · 29/06/2022 07:58

Thank you for responding. It's such a weird pain! A bit better today, but I'm exhausted and have a sore throat. Still testing negative 🤔

Yup one day had a very sore back which lasted just a few hours, then next day had a very sore throat and day after tested positive.

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 30/06/2022 16:09

How did people ease their sore throats?

partystress · 02/07/2022 13:20

Came on here to see if anyone else has this. It was my DD’s first symptom and then I started with it Thursday and tested positive yesterday.

it is so uncomfortable to sit. Really nagging pain close to my shoulder blade and sometimes going through into my boob.

Otherwise, I’ve just got a cough and am tired, but this nerdly pain is the worst thing at the moment!

HettyMeg · 03/07/2022 19:21

I've just tested positive today - first symptom was sore upper back and neck last night.

Instantnoodles · 05/07/2022 17:00

The back pain disappeared and I have felt exhausted, had a sore throat and headaches since then. But the test only turned positive yesterday. It's taken over a week since symptoms began to get a positive test.
