I tested positive for the first time yesterday after travelling from a holiday abroad and had usual reported symptoms. (Sore throat, itchy sore eyes, sinus blocked etc) and had symptoms start late Tuesday. My problem is that I just can’t sleep!
All I’ve ever been told is the fatigue is unreal but I’m finding the insomnia is too. Last night I took a nytol and still only slept three hours on and off. Anyone had any experience of this with Covid and was it short lived?

Thanks for your reply.
Oh god three weeks! it’s stressing me out because I’m thinking my body needs to sleep to heal but no chance of that lol. This illness is so random

On day 5 of covid and been like this every night, including the night before I tested positive despite having been to aqua aerobics. It's crazy! I just can't sleep.

I’m still wide awake. Not even a yawn in sight lol. On the bright side, the excessive sweating hasn’t been around for six hours!
Just itchy inner ears are starting 😂

My OH had this, it made it really hard for him because he could rest in bed all day but didn't get any sleep in that time! His mind was just racing. It only lasted a short while though, maybe 2-3 days and I hope it's the same for you x

Tested positive today and I was awake from 4am. DH was last week. Feels like 5 hot sweaty hours is the max sleep I can get!

pennee · 25/06/2022 23:07

I actually feel more awake than I normally would on a good day, it’s crazy. I’ve taken two herbal sleep aid tablets and put some magnesium cream on to help but who knows how it’s going to go tonight.
thanks for the replies, feel a bit more normal now lol.

I came looking to see if insomnia was a symptom Developed symptoms on Wednesday and hav e been managing two hours here and there, it’s driving me batty!

pennee · 26/06/2022 11:31

Welcome to the worst club ever @Gilead 😂
I managed a few hours last night but the getting there was a massive issue. Aim still having temperature spikes and sweating but my day 5 lft was fainter today so hoping it’s going in the right direction now.

Yup. I woke at 4.40am and am still wide awake. I tried to nap but felt wired.

First symptoms were Sunday, tested positive this morning.

God, I ache.

DashboardConfessional · 28/06/2022 17:01

To give people some hope, I am sleeping normally after 3 nights. I'm pretty sure mine was related to my temperature going up and down between 36 and 39 so I felt like I was full of adrenaline.

LovinglifeAF · 28/06/2022 21:46

I did at the start but since it cleared off I’ve slept amazingly every night. I’m usually a rubbish sleeper
