Your LFT started to lighten and you could merge back with the family?

I know some people are not doing this, and that's fine but for those of you who are still isolating to some degree within your household, at what point are you doing this?

I tested positive Saturday (am) and the line was almost black! We had a couple of tests left over so don't want to use another and it just come out the same?

I have a toddler and don't want to put him at unnecessary risk if I don't have too (I know, rules are no longer in place).

Just looking for advice on what other people have done in my position.

Thank you 😊

I have had my first negative today and that was on day 12!!! Can't believe how long it has taken! Every line before today was strong too. Still feel really rough. Hope you are better soon x

Trivester · 20/06/2022 19:57

12 days for me too.

yaboreme · 20/06/2022 21:25

Sh@t that’s longer than I expected.

Did you wait the whole 12 days?

Everytime I start to think I feel a little better, I feel rubbish again. Just ventured to the garden to stretch my legs, just feel knackered doing that.

Thanks

I got it when guidance was still negative tests to escape isolation before day 10, ended up doing the whole 10 days ( though didn't isolate from family as got it off them). Day 10 line had faded to solid red from black but took until sometime after day 15 to fade completely.

mrsfoof · 20/06/2022 22:00

First (faint) positive test was Tues evening when I started feeling a bit dodge.
Strong line Weds morning. 5 day isolation ended at midnight last night / this morning so I tested again today (first test since Tuesday as I'm rationing them now I had to pay for them!) and still got a very faint line (day 6).

Pambo81 · 20/06/2022 22:04

To be fair I couldn't isolate from my household for the whole 12 days. My 2.5 year would not stand for that and I think she had contracted it by the time I realised I had it. She only had it very mild though and was very perky the whole way through unlike me!

I’m currently isolating from the rest of the family as DS still has one GCSE exam so trying all I can to stop him from getting it. Tested positive Fri AM felt rough until Sunday morning but still testing positive today. Am hoping it’s not too much longer as hating being shut away BUT will be worth it if DS doesn’t get it. Hope you get a negative soon.

ScarlettDarling · 21/06/2022 12:18

I’m not sure what day I’m on! I started with a scratchy throat on Wed evening but didn’t test positive (v v faint)til fri evening with a darker positive Saturday morning. So should I be counting from first symptoms or positive test?
Im isolating from my family as my son is doing a levels and my daughter is doing mocks but I don’t think I’d isolate past 10 days. Just don’t know when to count ten days from 🤷🏻‍♀️

mrsfoof · 21/06/2022 13:26

@ScarlettDarling You count from the day after you first positive test. So if you tested positive on Sat, Sunday is day 1, Monday day 2 etc.

mrsfoof · 21/06/2022 13:27

Negative test today (day 7) after a faint positive yesterday (day 6).

Deadivy · 21/06/2022 13:28

Day 10 for me. but two days earlier the line was black. Didn't isolate from the family in the house and no one caught it either!

yaboreme · 21/06/2022 14:09

@Pambo81 the first 2 days were horrendous, DS was screaming for me. So I kept coming outside and masking up etc so he could sit on my knee.

i mean he’s been unwell with tonsillitis (thinking maybe covid?? But can’t swab so I’ll never know). Was in bed together/ bath etc….so I don’t know if I’m doing right for wrong. Mainly isolating because I’ve felt so unwell.

Thanks for all the advice re: isolating period. I don’t have a clue about these things anymore? I thought it was 5 days from the day of testing.

Fed up of it now to be honest.

@Pambo81 did you confirm DD with a LFT?

Can you get a lollipop antigen test for your ds. They’ve been a game changer with my autistic ds. they were designed for small dc to just suck on.

Pambo81 · 21/06/2022 17:30

No tried to do a test but she was too wild and I didn't want to force it. Her dad had it too and she is still breastfed and sleeps with me so I just felt it was inevitable. Plus her cough started the same time as mine
