Could this be long Covid?

Had Covid end Jan, mild illness, recovered fine.

Contracted a chest infection back in May which is stubbornly refusing to go. I'm now on my third course of different ntibiotics, having also tried steroids. I'm 3 times vaccinated/ boosted and have otherwise always been healthy. No asthma, no heart conditions.

I feel like an 80yo 20 a day smoker than a 43yo. I can't exercise due to breathlessness and I've just caught tonsillitis on top.of everything else.

I used to smoke (social smoker) but gave up 7 years ago. Part of me is terrified this is lung cancer,.but it seems odd that I've always been healthy and after getting Covid I've had this cough and breathing problems. GP had booked me in for chest xray. I've heard of a lot of people lately who were previously fit and healthy who have struggled to return to normal. But given that my initial Covid was mild and I initially recovered fine, can long Covid appear after a few months of having had the initial illness?

Yes I believe so

Yes it can I'm afraid.

Glad your GP is taking it seriously and hope the chest xray happens quickly and gets you some answers that are treatable/not scary.
If you're on facebook there are some long covid support groups on there that might be able to give more advice.
I hope you start to feel better soon.

Sounds unlikely to be long Covid if you fully recovered and then the chest infection started a few months later. Long Covid is an ongoing struggle to recover rather than being fine for a few months and then it re-appears. It sounds like you have a persistent chest infection rather than anything Covid related. Do you have other symptoms?

@HundredMilesAnHour I've definitely read of cases where full
Recovery seems to have occurred and thenlong Covid comes along though
