Period delay?

I tested positive for Covid on the 28th March. My periods cycle is usually quite short, around 24/25 days. I haven't had a period since just after having Covid so getting on for 6 weeks. I'm 47 and I'm sure I am perimenopausal, but periods haven't been affected up until now.

Just wondering if this could be due to Covid, or just my age? Any thoughts or shared similar experience greatly appreciated.

I think you must be me, same age, covid a day or 2 later. Some friends who had covid had the same followed by a 3 week heavy period after 8/9 weeks. Not looking forward to mine 😥

It brought mine forward a week when I got it…. Definitely something strange going on!

Thanks for the replies. So strange how it affects your cycle. I feel so bloated and like it's going to be really heavy when it finally arrives, not looking forward to it at all.

@Wakemeuuuup
This is interesting, similar happening here.
I had my period on time after covid, then a late period/longer than usual cycle, and now I seem to be having another one a week after the last one finished.. or maybe it's just one long on and off one like
Your friends, after the massive gap?
I'm also having a lot more pain around ovulation, period pains, indigestion etc. Terrible bloating - like everything more extreme than usual.

I'm 38, but possibly peri menopausal as my mum was early in menopause (45)...

I also had a MC last year but cycles were well and truly back to normal when covid came...

Theswordandtheflame · 23/05/2022 16:53

Late forties and peri-menopause. Just recouperating from Covid and I've had a two week period from hell on top of it - gushing, clots like nothing else. I've recently had gynae checks so unlikely anything sinister but on top of covid, it has been brutal. I've got some iron tablets so taking those.

Dreading another cycle like that. Hopefully it settles a bit.

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 23/05/2022 19:59

I had a pretty awful period after covid - alternated between giant clots and gushing. Had same after AZ vaccines, but periods also went off kilter for a couple of months after those. Hoping next period more settled.

Me periods have been kaput since March 2020 when I lost my sense of taste and smell for a few months. I wasn't tested as it was right at the beginning, and I wasn't poorly, but something affected me that month and it seems to have plunged me into the peri.
I was regular before then, since it's been a lottery month in month out whether I get a period and they have been mixed to the extreme as regards length, pain and flow too.

Definitely some connection, I believe.

Mine finally started at the weekend, it was such a relief! Will wait and see if my cycle gets back to normal now.

I had the same thing with my last vaccination.

I’ve got covid right now and my first period for 6 months (I’m also 47, I thought maybe they were gone for good). Super heavy, it’s not been heavy for years.

It’s an odd virus!

That probably means mine will arrive next week, when I'm on holiday 🙄
