My DH tested positive for covid yesterday morning after feeling rubbish for a few hours. There was a definite line. He had tested negative the previous day. (He had tested because he was seeing elderly parents) That afternoon he tested again, but it was negative. This morning he tested positive, but only very faintly. It looks like he may only be positive for 2 days. I haven't heard of this happening to anyone else. Have you? Two of my DC's were pretty much asymptomatic but still tested positive for 8 or 9 days.

Viral load goes up and down and can continue to do that. So there's that. Tests don't always pick up every positive case, so there's that too. Sometimes you can test on one type and get a positive and a negative on another type. Some people don't get a positive on LFT at all (my sister got positive on PCR but every LFT negative). My DH only tested positive for 3 days. Like your DH had tested negative the day before first testing positive.

From experience it seems that the more times you have it, the shorter you stay positive on the tests for.

Thanks for your thoughts. Seems I might have posted prematurely as dh is now saying he is feeling pretty rubbish. Suspect he will continue to be positive for a while.

My 14y old had it a few weeks ago with rest of the family. We were testing everyone daily for a week or so. He only showed a positive LFT once on one day. Every single other one was negative, multiple brands. He had a slight temp and headache for a couple of house around the time of the one positive one, that was it.
