Has anyone been to Turkey recently?

It says they do random PCR checks. Just wondered how 'random' they are, or if they're just saying that and not doing them at all... anyone?

No evidence of anything like that at all, either inbound or outbound Antalya 10 days ago.

Has to wear masks in airport when inbound.
No masks in airport outbound….

Alabamahammer · 11/05/2022 19:28

Thanks, that's really helpful.

Just back last week. They did random drug screening on passengers belongings on the way home. No covid tests.

We weren't asked for any vaccination proof either at any stage , despite having it with us

FlowerArranger · 12/05/2022 03:17

No checks or texting when I was there - all very smooth and efficient.

But you do need an App showing Vax status to use public transport and enter museums.

FlowerArranger · 12/05/2022 03:18

Testing!

ChildDLA · 12/05/2022 05:13

We went over Easter. No checks whatsoever, although masks in the airport are compulsory.

Roastonsun8 · 12/05/2022 05:37

Can I ask what the weather was like please and what part you stayed in @Myshitisreal ?

Alabamahammer · 12/05/2022 10:18

Thanks everyone, I have this irrational fear that even if we set off testing negative one of us is going to pick something up on the flight and then be randomly tested when we get there!

We're going next month and one of my besties is out there now visiting her boyfriend. She goes all the time and has never seen anyone doing/getting tested. Apparently it's something they reserve the right to do but it doesn't happen in practice.

Went at Easter to Fethiye via Dalaman airport. No checks at all apart from passport. Mask wearing rule widely ignored at the airport.

Theatrefish · 12/05/2022 11:12

We were asked for covid passes by the airline for adults. Other than that, no additional checks. I think this was an airline thing rather than a Turkey thing. We weren't asked for them on our return flight.

The weather was very mixed. One day was very overcast, one day it rained most of the day. The rest were good, nice and warm.
The last couple of days were quite windy, to the point where they closed the parasols as they were blowing over. The last evening was particularly cooler that people were wearing coats to sit outside.

I had a just above knee dress on, and had added a very thin thermal long sleeve as the dress was gaping at the chest, but i was lucky in that it actually kept me warm. So if I was going again I'd take one or 2 very thin long sleeves and something to throw on under dresses if you get particularly cold. I had leggings (mumsnet sin) to put on travelling home as it got cooler on the journey. I also had a Zip up hoody i travelled in and the long sleeve top so that covered me layers wise. I suspect its getting warmer each day though. I think the coats were overkill but i also wasn't well during the holidays.

We travelled to Dalaman, Marmaris, no one wore masks in the airport. I tried but was genuinely on the verge of fainting.

I also tested positive when I came home.

Watching this thread with interest as we are deciding whether we are going to go to a wedding there in August. Reading the Foreign Office advice on the safety of traveling there has really put me off though.

Anyone know if it’s just two vaccine’s or two vaccine’s less than 280 days ago? The time limit is mentioned on sites when searching Spain covid restrictions but not on any Turkish ones that I can find. DH is double vaccinated but due to heart arrhythmia after having both we decided to play safe and pass on his booster. He had covid at Christmas but the 6 month cut off is about 5 days out if we calculate it from the day he tested positive but fine if you count from 28th day of positive pcr, which it says on a couple of sites I’ve checked. .gov is about as clear as mud on the issue.

mum11970 · 12/05/2022 18:56

Please excuse those apostrophes that seem to have appeared in vaccines. 🤦‍♀️

Roastonsun8 · 12/05/2022 21:10

@Myshitisreal thank you. What month did you travel in? I'm thinking of going in May to Antalya.

Myshitisreal · 12/05/2022 21:29

Just got back last Friday so 28th April to 5th May. I've avoided covid until now.

Unsure about the vaccine situation. We never got asked once but you can't rely on that as a strategy. Are there any consulate or Turkish websites etc you can check

Will the paper pass also be ok?
