Buying lateral flow tests

I have needed to buy some lateral flow tests but I've not found it easy. Has anyone else had issues?
I assumed I'd just be able to go to a pharmacy or supermarket (I know some are selling them) and just buy them but I've found it really hard.
I did manage to get some in Boots today but they were literally hidden away out of sight and I had to ask at the till for them (normal till not pharmacy).
Is it like that everywhere? I know many people aren't bothering, but I want to continue to test before visiting my very frail mother and I didn't expect it to be difficult

I saw a whole stand of them at our local tescos. Not hidden away at all. I haven't seen them elsewhere- but haven't been looking as still have some from before.

Suzi888 · 27/04/2022 20:34

Are you in Wales or England?
You can still get them for free in Wales.

ReadyToMoveIt · 27/04/2022 20:38

I’ve seen loads in Tesco today, not hidden at all, a massive display of them. Do you have a Tesco nearby?

LIZS · 27/04/2022 20:41

Lloyds pharmacy , behind the counter. I've also seen them on online grocery shops, Boots and amazon.

TinaWeymouthsBass · 27/04/2022 20:43

Loads of the floflex ones at the check out in boots and a big stand at the end of the shampoo aisle in Tesco.

missnevermind · 27/04/2022 20:47

Iceland online deliveries had some too.

IcedOatLatte · 27/04/2022 20:47

They have them in both my nearest aldi and Tesco, not hidden away at all and I assume the merchandising will be standard across all stores

dementedpixie · 27/04/2022 20:49

I'm in Scotland so we still get free ones. I did see some in my local Food Warehouse at the tills (it's like a huge Iceland store)

ScarlettSunset · 27/04/2022 20:49

I'm in England.
Had a thorough look round Tesco at the weekend but couldn't see any ( they might have had some at the pharmacy but there was a big queue there). Definitely no big displays! Perhaps they were just out of them.
I was surprised they were hidden away in Boots. I felt like I was asking for something naughty!

Wanted to buy some on Friday but both Tesco and Sainsburys were out of stock.
Finally managed to buy a pack on Tuesday in Sainsburys after they had restocked, but there were only two packs left on the shelf and both were in a plastic, "anti theft" box 😬

TulipsGarden · 28/04/2022 07:20

There was a big display of them in my local Boots last week, definitely not hidden away.

Ordered some yesterday free on line. I put the reason as I work in a health and social care field (which I do). They didn't ask for any proof though. They came today. Not saying you should lie though...

CraftyGin · 28/04/2022 11:49

I've just ordered a free pack from the NHS.

Are you in Scotland?
They arent available free for England now

Bornslippery · 28/04/2022 13:30

dementedpixie they are if you say you work for social care or the NHS- see above.

dementedpixie · 28/04/2022 13:32

But OP doesn't fall into that category

dementedpixie · 28/04/2022 13:34

I could sell you some Wink
I have a selection as ds kept bringing them home from school and they were handing them out in the sports centre and asda too

ScarlettSunset · 28/04/2022 13:43

Thanks everyone.
I am realising I must just live in a bit of a weird area or something. Now I've managed to get some though, they'll probably be everywhere...

I saw some in aldi yesterday but they were near the till and not on a shelving display.

I am guessing they are too "shop-liftable" atm so probably staff are keeping them in their line of sight.
