Spain covid entry rules for soon to be 12 yo who will only have had one jab before travel

DS had covid in February, so he can’t get his first covid jab until the middle of May, he turns 12 in June and we go to Spain at the start of July before he can get a second injection. My understanding is that if he is 12 he needs to be fully vaccinated to travel, but does this mean that only having the one jab in May isn’t enough? Does he also need a Recovery Certificate?

I thought age 12-17 could test before travel for Spain now rather than be vaccinated

They can do a pcr test

If he has proof of recovery then he is fine. Or can do a PCR test. But proof of recovery is enough.

TheCanyon · 24/04/2022 17:44

Why can't he have it until may? Our dc have just had covid last week, was supposed to get their second jag last Saturday but it's been rearranged for 4 weeks after testing positive.

dementedpixie · 24/04/2022 17:47

Youre supposed to leave 12 weeks after covid for children
Might be easier to do a pcr than try to get a proof of recovery for them

dementedpixie · 24/04/2022 17:51

Says 12 weeks if they aren't at high risk of covid

Proof of recovery is really easy for 12 year olds, you can get it online very quickly.

Do you get the proof of recovery from the NHS website or the app?

When I phoned to book they said I had to wait 12 weeks from his positive test, something to do with a risk of heart inflammation

covid-status.service.nhsx.nhs.uk

follow this link and set up an account for your child, I just used a different email address of mine. You will need your child there as they have to do a short video to prove identity from memory. But access is usually sorted v quickly.

Thanks, that’s helpful, I’ll do that
