Just curiosity (and a bit of reassurance) really

DH did. He's had a stem cell transplant and it was no more than a cold for him.

Ds was on the shielding list, he is double vaxxed and got it a few weeks back. Unsurprisingly for him he needed a course of steroids and 4 weeks on his is still getting very tired easily but other than that he was fine

Yes, both my husband and I are both CEV and it's been a bad cold for us both with no significant lung issues.

I'm day 9 today and still feeling fragile but functioning enough to drive today. Getting out in this sunshine ☀️
My lateral flow was negative today.

Yes. SIL. Late 40s. Breast cancer, had just started new, 'milder' course of chemo post op. Thought initially was a reaction to chemo - felt v ill and v high temp. Got given anti virals via a drip. Doing lots better now.

I did. I ended up absolutely fine, no long covid or other lingering symptoms but I was pretty ill. Spent a week in hospital. Took nearly 3 months to fully recover.
CEV due to auto immune mainly but complicated medical history.

Afterwards it was a relief that I knew the worst and I felt much safer for a long time.

Yes, I am CV and had it and was fine - felt poorly but nothing serious.

Do remember that having it mildly once doesn't necessarily mean it will be mild the next time too. So it is still worth being as careful as possible.

I know of a few CEV people who have had it mildly, including my 92 year old grandma who had it last week but has been fine.

My 84 year old nanna who has dialysis for final stage kidney failure tested positive at the weekend. She had a cough for one day and is fine now.

DF had it in hospital just after he had chemo and was fine, only a mild sore throat for a couple of days.

CEV, disabled, chronically ill. I had it this week (now testing negative after 6 days) and have felt mostly normal. I can't have the vaccines so completely unprotected from it. It was scary but no symptoms worse than my normal ones.

Yes, I’ve had it 4 times and each time I’ve simply felt a bit rough. It hasn’t been as bad as having flu.

My sister is on the list due to having on-going breathing difficulties. She has also had it multiple times and has been fine.

Yes, got it for the first time a month ago. Felt pretty rough for a week and had sinusitis after requiring a course of antibiotics but now absolutely fine with no lingering symptoms. I have indolent lymphoma, had Pfizer x4 and was offered antivirals but couldn't have them as breastfeeding.

My grandma was on the shielding list and caught it last month. It was a minor cold for her.

Yes my friend. Vaccine injured after Covid vaccine no1. Was totally ok. Like a mild cold

CV and had it a month ago. Like a cold + exhaustion. But I’ve had 4 vaccines.

CEV here
Had covid early 2020 before vaccinations. In hospital on oxygen. Took 6 months + to start to Stabilise severe asthma

Covid in Feb/ March- on prednisolone for 5 weeks and almost hospitalised but managed to get on top of it with GP and consultant help to stay at home.

Boy am I fatigued still 🤪 and still having "low oxygen events" (SPO2 the finger oxygen pulse oximeter measure) of mid 80s at times that takes a bit to get it over 90 which is ambulance calling trigger) and peak flow is sometimes down to 45% in mornings (lung capacity cf to normal lung capacity) , so my hospital bag has been packed for 6 weeks just incase!!

But actually I'm fine. I've even wfh part time though latest covid but should really have taken couple weeks off sick to sleep through it.

Very grateful to my family rallying round as no way could I stand or walk enough to get down the stairs to cook for my DCs- was deliverooing ready meals and Uber eats, sending teens out for fish and chips or family cooking for us.

I ate ice cream & cold soups for 5 days at its worst as throat glands too swollen to want to swallow solid food.

Sorry I meant 2nd covid was mid Feb 2023. Fully vaccinated so much milder for me than previous time- although still tough, covid is respiratory virus so anything like that "takes me down" anyway.

What I wrote sounds terrible but am grateful I could stay home. Take painkillers, plenty of fluids, prop yourself up to sleep and lots of rest and sleep- helps you get over it.

My daughter, she’s CEV. Double vaccinated and boosted. Was absolutely fine.

I am CEV and had covid in summer of 2021 as soon as the rule allowing people to no longer wear masks came in. Had 2 vaccines by that stage. Wasn't the worst illness I've had (proper flu in my 20s was way worse but wasn't CEV or vaccinated then) but did have to stay in bed about 5 days due to fever and muscle aches. Still haven't got my sense of smell fully back but I don't mind this. No breathing problems. Hope you are OK xx

My dad. 79, has blood cancer, so is CEV and on the shielding list (and properly shielded for ages).
It finally caught up with him at the end of March. Had a sore throat for a couple of days and a cough for a couple of days after that. Tested negative on days 5 and 6 and was back out doing all his usual stuff on day 7.
He was, in theory, eligible for the antiviral treatment they are offering to CEV people, but his consultant advised against it due to a potential clash with his angina meds.

My mum had it too, and was worse than him, but was still OK really - a worse cough, and a bit of tiredness, but nothing to write home about.

Dad's been MUCH iller with colds in the past - he's had some which lingered for weeks (before his cancer was diagnosed, so his platelets and therefore immunity were probably very low).

Yes, I have a congenital heart defect. Got covid about a month after my third jab, took antivirals. I was only a bit unwell, like I had a heavy cold. The worst thing was losing my sense of taste and smell.

Also my 32yo friend is currently having radiotherapy for cancer. She caught it a few weeks ago and continued her treatment whilst positive. She felt rough but fully recovered in a week

I am cv (type 1 diabetes) and have had covid pre any vaccines- I was totally asymptomatic, honestly wouldn't have known I had it without the positive test (only tested as dh had symptoms).

Derrymum123 · 20/04/2022 21:50

Yep. CV had it 3 times. Had all jabs and booster. 1st time asymptomatic. 2nd lost sense of smell and a hacking cough. 3rd mild cold symptoms. Had worse colds tbh.
