Hi... please bear with me. DH had cold symptoms from last Monday. Negative tests Monday and Tuesday but positive Wednesday. When does day count start? From symptoms beginning or positive test?

Just trying to work out day 5 and 6 for testing purposes.

Any signposting to guidance that explains it would be good.

Cheers!

Monday first day of symptoms is day 0 so Tuesday is day 1

Symptoms started on the Monday, so that's the first day (day zero if you are in England and doing LFTs on days 5 and 6, day one if you are in Scotland and doing LFTs on days 6 and 7).

So do you count your five days from the start of symptoms, or positive test? The NHS website seems to suggest you count from your positive test.

I had symptoms from Wednesday but didn't test positive until Friday 🤷🏻‍♀️

Testing finished in March, surely?

Looneytune253 · 16/04/2022 18:25

In this case because he was testing negative initially I would count from the positive test. That would be day zero so would count from the Thursday

First day of symptoms is day zero (Tuesday). If you’re in England though, there’s no need to test any more.
