Yes learn to live with it the government says but whilst still advising stay at home.
So day 6 and still positive , so family visiting other family easter and all meeting up , looks like I will be only one home. Dh now clear , fingers cross ds's have avoided , so just me sat at home
Fucking covid and let it run rife policies

@Watapalava

So dramatic. You don’t have to isolate. I’ve got family round tomorrow and 3 members are only on day 3/4 and still coming. Which part of living with it do you not get? It’s not 2020.
Not everyone is happy putting older or more vulnerable family members or friends at risk though.

Dh currently has covid so we are not seeing his mum today. We will see her next week instead. Why would we put an older person at risk of being I'll if we didn't have to? We'd do the same if he had flu or a DV bug too.

We will have a quieter weekend than planned and he will go back to work a day later than he would have done, working at home for the missed office day.

Very naive view. Its still a nasty virus that can knock you off your feet. We all have it and DH and I have been too ill to work. Take the unnecessary risk if you want but don't mock others for wanting to isolate if they can. Best of luck next week.

Such a warm, helpful message!
Optimisiticcautiouslyso · 16/04/2022 08:28

Bloody hell
If I didn’t feel ill
Not a chance I’d cancel

carefullycourageous · 16/04/2022 08:30

@Bailey48

You can't avoid it it is everywhere .... 1 in 10 have it just get on with it
The advice is that really avoiding it is better, the more times you get it the more likely you are to get lasting impacts.

I mean obviously you are free to do as you wish, but personally if I can avoid giving it to my elderly parents and avoid it myself, I am hapy to do so, because having covid even mildly raises your risk of serious side effects.

Optimisiticcautiouslyso · 16/04/2022 08:30

I’d obviously tell family members!

But she a family member told us she was positive but felt absolutely fine - we all just shrugged and said absolutely please still come!

worriedatthistime · 16/04/2022 09:03

@Watapalava for someone who is getting on as normal you seem to constantly pop up on the covid posts telling everyone
Read the goverment advice it does not say ignore and infect.
Some members are CEV so I won't be seeing them and risking COvid as im not an irresponsible twat
Also I don't even do this just out of goverment advice I am also able to make sensible decisions
Knowingly mixing when you have covid means a circle of just re infecting ,

I'm home alone and it's THE BEST! Kids and DH gone to PIL for weekend and I'm here feeling slightly poorly but not enough to not enjoy the peace. Bliss!

mnnewbie111 · 16/04/2022 09:08

@UnmentionedElephantDildo

People can't always afford the time off work.

And 'mild' means 'doesn't require hospital' not 'trivial and still capable of work'. You can need covid time off work because you are too ill, it's nit just about isolation. And of course in some settings, you should nit attend if positive.

I think it's wrong to knowingly risk someone's wellbeing (illness or work absence). Yes, people can catch it anywhere, but that's not a reason to expose people when you know you are infectious.

There's a scale of mild I think . My mild is barely a sniffle and slight headache. Can do everything as normal just like if I had a hangover😂. My SILs mild was couldn't get out of bed but no hospital needed.
worriedatthistime · 16/04/2022 09:09

@Optimisiticcautiouslyso older people there so that makes a difference , 89 year old nan and someone having chemo , may not be ok with a dose of covid
This is my second time getting it , first time fine . This time bedridden and like bad flu and was unable to work for a couple of days and I wfh .
Also unable to have my own weekly treatment at the drs as they wouldn't see me, so there are still restrictions in place in certain setltings despite what some posters think

Thanks to those that shown sympathy and sorry for those also in similar position
Lucky the weather is good so did a bit of gardening yesterday and was nice to get out the house.
First negative LFT yesterday so hoping today is the same, then I can travel further maybe a walk to coast if not then sit on garden now its looking tidier , DH of to get some flowers.
Feel ok in myself now but first few days I was rough as was DH, and changing the bed still left me a bit breathless .
Does concern me I have had covid twice when you read some of the long term data though,
For those that told me not to be dramatic etc , you don't know when I last saw my family or can again , they don't live an hour or so away and my nan is obviously elderly so I don't get to see her much as it is and you never know when could be the last time , so I think im justified in feeling a bit miffed

Ah that’s different

All my family in fine fettle and those that have had covid - passed by with hardly a whimper

BitOutOfPractice · 16/04/2022 09:22

What day are you on op? It’s three days till Tuesday. You may well be clear by then. I know it’s hard but try not to wallow. Get well soon.

That’s the kind of Easter weekend I can get behind!
HesterShaw1 · 16/04/2022 10:36

Sympathies, but really your Easter/Christmas/birthday/holiday any year can be wiped out by anything. Colds, flu, norovirus, food poisoning.....

Even with controls people were getting Covid all over the place, having events cancelled at short notice.

At least this way, most of the population are able to enjoy life a bit more.

This you are more contagious before symptoms than after
Lovemusic33 · 16/04/2022 11:34

Glad you got a negative OP, I’m on day 7, dd on day 9 and both still positive. Hoping tomorrow I will be negative.

CrowAndArrow · 16/04/2022 11:57

Yeah, my dad ruined Christmas by dying of covid Xmas 2020.

I’m sorry

But if that was a barbed comment to the OP then you’re being unfair

The OP doesn’t have to isolate
She’s choosing to to protect others

worriedatthistime · 16/04/2022 13:08

@CrowAndArrow what have I done to you though ?

Andacherryonthetop · 16/04/2022 13:13

Ah hope you test negative soon. I’m on day ten but negative so am out and about. I went walking with my dog when positive though, in the woods avoiding people. I would go for a walk if you can- the fresh air and change of scenery does help and it’s easy to avoid people if you’re in a quiet area (appreciate you may not be though).

Yellowleadbetter · 16/04/2022 13:19

My lot have gone on an Easter break without me.
I Tested positive yesterday.
So off they went. Booked for months, cost a fortune and I’m not with them.

Feel so unwell, so unwell. It’s the painful back & joints that’s the worst. Headache, toothache, cough and raw throat.

Nothing more to do than box set Better call Saul… great company when feeling like shite.
Huge vege bolognaise in the slow cooker, comfort food.

Day 2 today. Hope it gets better as days go on……

knowinglesseveryday · 16/04/2022 14:11

Now people can do what they want, I really don't understand why the ' life must go on, so go out anyway' proselytisers STILL keep making sniping comments to people who choose not to infect others. Offer sympathy, or bugger off. Who cares what you think about other people's decisions.

It’s much much more always

“You’re SO selfish for not isolating”
