But nothing else yet

Streaming eyes and nose, bit of a croaky throat. Not much else. I've felt exactly like this with bad colds for my whole life.

Very positive tests so def covid.

Is this what covid has become?

Yes. 83% of positive cases have running nose as the top symptom. 69% of sufferers have a sore throat.

Have I got Covid, a bad cold or something else?

Although the 5 people I know who’ve had it recently did feel like death warmed up and very fatigued along with their runny nose and sore throat.

BlackInk · 11/04/2022 18:41

It's so different for different people.

Three of our household have just had it:

DD10 – high fever and mild sore throat for a few days.
DP40s 3 x vacc – heavy cold symptoms, bit of a chesty cough, felt rough for several days.
Me40s 3 x vacc – felt reeeeeally rough and exhausted for several days, but almost no actual symptoms, the mildest of sore throats/sniffles.

Bailey48 · 11/04/2022 18:54

My son tested positive then my partner I feel awful and still negative !!! Wierd

LeftFootForward · 11/04/2022 19:31

I think it's so different for everyone OP. My main symptoms have been aching legs, a dry mildly painful throat and a bit of a headache. I've not really had any proper cold symptoms. I had a temp 1 night.

I'm just bored now of feeling a bit meh and wearing a mask in my own house to stop the rest of my family getting it has got old very quickly ;)

I am however very, very relieved that I've not been as unwell as some of the poor people in these threads!!

worriedatthistime · 13/04/2022 22:28

2nd time for me in 2 months , first time no real symptoms just tired
This time aches , shivers for a couple days , cough and blocked nose like flu but not lasted as long

TulipsGarden · 13/04/2022 22:32

I have it now - the worst part was the fever, which made me feel dreadful off and on for three days. I didn't have much in the way of cold symptoms, but I do have a nasty cough.

The fatigue is actually the worst part, because as soon as I feel better and do anything I have to have a sit down to recover. I am very worried about getting long Covid so am taking it very easy. Triple vaxxed, 40, quite overweight.

MossyBottom · 14/04/2022 11:48

For many people it is, especially those triple vaccinated.
The vaccine has reduced it to this for most people, not all.

It's not for everyone though. I had no cold symptoms at all but was hospitalised with covid. My two DC in their 20s had heavy cold symtoms. Everyone else I know who has had it since vaccine has felt unwell for 2-3 days then better. The ones who had it pre-vaccine (albeit a different strain) did not fare so well.

PinkAndViolet · 14/04/2022 11:50

DH is triple jabbed and immunosuppresed.
Have never seen him so ill with a virus. He had a terrible cold, excruciating sore throat, repetitive cough, chills and it all lasted a month.
I get so angry when people say it's just a cold.

jowly · 14/04/2022 11:57

@PinkAndViolet I'm sorry your OH has been so unwell.

For the vast majority of us it is no different to a cold now, but it's because of folk like him I've stayed at home for a week.

OP posts:
RuthW · 14/04/2022 12:17

I had exactly the same for three weeks but all pcrs and lfts neg throughout

Antarcticant · 14/04/2022 12:23

Yes, I've just had it and it was like that - worst thing was aching muscles and tiredness over the first two days, but on the whole very similar to a nasty cold.

Let's hope the mutations continue to get milder. It's in the virus's interests to do that because the less debilitating it is, the more people are likely to be active with it and spread it.

Antarcticant · 14/04/2022 12:25

--- I would add, I have been mindful of vulnerable people still being liable to more severe effects, and I haven't left the house for the last 10 days, even though there were only a couple of days when I really felt too ill to do anything.

Seriously79 · 14/04/2022 12:30

For the last month we have all been ill. Stinking colds, sore throats, aches and tired.

Both me and DP are triple jabbed, and had flu jab. DS 13 has had both of his vaccines.

We have to test regularly for work, and every time we were negative.

I think we forget that the normal bugs are still around too.

JemimaPyjamas · 14/04/2022 15:16

DH was positive on Saturday, I finally was positive today. I feel like it's a head cold; headache and snotty feeling. I also cough a but from time to time.
DH was exhausted for a couple of days too, so my symptoms are milder but, pre covid, it still feels like a cold (for us - I realise this doesn't mean everybody!) x

Mirrorball2022 · 14/04/2022 15:19

My sister has it and she started very much like a cold/runny nose. It’s now hit her chest a few days later and she’s been pretty sick with it tbh. Really achy too.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/04/2022 15:22

I had fever, vomiting, plus cold/cough. 26 days on still no taste/smell, and still coughing.

Triple jabbed and otherwise healthy, in my 40s.

newnameforthehousehunt · 14/04/2022 15:50

I’ve got very heavy cold symptoms but also a fever and insomnia. I don’t ever get fevers with a cold and also sleep like a baby with them - with covid I am bone tired but feel too restless to sleep. Surely at some point the lack of sleep will catch up with me and knock me out.

Hmm

Everyone knows it varies person to person.

Two of my healthy, fully vaccinated relatives have been bedridden so no, it isn't what it has become.

These type of posts make me cross - many people are fucking ill and plenty are dying!

Well it is still different to a cold as every single time you get it your risk of stroke and other clotting disorders goes right up.

DontKeepTheFaith · 14/04/2022 17:44

I’m triple vaccinated and it was like proper flu for me. It floored me for 5 days, unable to do much but sleep and rest then this week I’ve been working from home but after 2 days working, needed a day to rest yesterday. I’m on day 9 now and feeling better but nowhere near baseline. I’ve had a terrible cough, sore throat, runny nose and the awful tiredness.
