Has anyone taken Paxlovid?

Hi everyone!

I tested positive on Friday evening and have just been delivered a 5 day course of Paxlovid from the hospital (I’m immunosuppressed so classed as high risk).

I think it’s a pretty new medication so just wondered if anyone has had any experience with it? I’m feeling pretty horrid so hoping it kicks in soon!

My friend had it and said that she started to feel better within 12 hours and was negative on a lateral flow three days later. Hopefully similarly impressive for you.

Not had it, but the data suggest this stuff really works: an 89% reduction in risk of hospitalization or death was reported in a clinical trial.

How widely available is it now?

It''s only available for the immunosuppressed, I believe (not 100% sure), as they are most at risk. DH had it & had very mild Covid. I was on the trial for the other anti viral (the PANORAMIC trial) and also had very mild Covid. Neither of us had any side effects from the anti virals.

My son who is immunocomprised has been given a 5 day course of Molnupiravir. It's also a new Covid antiviral and similar to Paxlovid. The stuff is brilliant, he had only mild symptoms (a runny nose) but after the first day the runny nose is gone. He will be testing tomorrow, hopefully it'll be negative.

Glad your son only had mild symptoms @Alondra Hoping his LFT has come back negative!

For anyone that’s searching for info about- I’ve just tested negative on Day 5 on a LFT and no side effects to report (other than a weird taste in my mouth but that could be covid related rather than tablets related!). I Started feeling better after around 2 doses of it so they kick in quick!

All in all, amazing stuff!
