Work dilemma!

I tested positive for covid Wednesday morning (got a faint positive Tuesday and that's when my symptoms started but officially positive Wednesday).
It has hit me HARD. My chest is so tight and hot, I'm coughing like mad, congested, headaches, whole body feels achy and heavy and I can barely talk or move without panting for breath. I've had 3 jabs but I was classed as clinically vulnerable before they stopped doing all that so I knew if I caught it I could potentially be very ill. Tested dh and my 2 kiddies and they're all positive too, only one who seems ill is my 1yo who has a cough and is off her food but apart from that they're all good.

My issue is I handed my notice in a few weeks ago. It's my last shift on Saturday and I really want to work it. I know I don't legally have to self isolate but I'm so bloody unwell I can't imagine I'll be okay by Saturday. I start my new job on Monday and I'm worried I'll still be poorly then too.
I know my boss will call tomorrow to see if I can work Saturday and I'm just sad that I'll have to say no. I've had a fab 4 years there and I'm honestly gutted to be leaving and especially missing my last shift but I can barely get off the sofa so I don't have a choice tbh.
Just a rant more than anything - managed to evade rona for 2 years but of course I'd catch it at the totally wrong time 😑

Way it is unfortunate but you will have to say no you are not well anyway regardless of what you do or don’t have to do legally. Perhaps you can see your colleagues on a later date . People have had to cancel and not go to so many things due to covid. I get your disappointment but not going into a shift on your last day is no big deal . Stay home and rest .

Can you offer to do an extra shift next weekend instead (if not at your new job)?

It's just unfortunate timing, nothing you can help. Take covid out of the equation and think of it as an illness. Would you be considering work if you have norovirus? See your colleagues in a couple of weeks and get well soon.

True, even if it wasn't covid I'd be off work. I couldn't lift my arms long enough to shampoo my hair this morning (hubby to the rescue haha) never mind do an entire shift.
