Heavy periods after covid

6 replies

I’ve had three jabs and each one delayed my period by 2/3 days, but ever since I caught covid in February I’ve had 2 really heavy cycles, with my current one being the heaviest.

The last one was my first since covid and I had flooding which has never happened before, this one had lots of clots, mostly small but a couple larger - again never happened before!

I’m off to the GP in any case but was wondering if anyone else noticed this post natural infection? Cycles are regular length otherwise.

How old are you, could it be peri menopause causing the change ?

@GeneLovesJezebel I hope not, I’m 33!

Perimenopause can start in your 30s, though of course I'm not saying it's that. The vaccine affected my cycle, undoubtedly. Could be that?

There's a thread somewhere about all the weird and wonderful ways the jags and covid affect periods. Heavier periods is one of them. My friend who thought she was menopausal has had a heavy period after her 2 covid infections- she's well hacked off.
The other things is that periods change over the course of all your fertile life as hormones fluctuate all the time not just puberty, perimenopause or menopause . Mine got very heavy in the my early 30s and then eased off by my late 30s. Changed after babies and now I'm 50 they are heavy only for 2 days and shorter.

Aaaah! I've just realised why my DD is in bed with the worst period she's ever had bless her. Have to say she's been beside herself and crying with the pain. She had covid about 2 weeks ago.

Extremely heavy and 11 days and counting, I'm absolutely drained with it .
