Sore throat and headache

These are my two main symptoms. Also have slight blocked nose and due to sore throat a little bit of a cough.

Sounds like a regular cold but I didn't really get colds, especially at this time of year.

I took 5 tests last week and all negative. Will take another test today but I can't keep testing this frequently.

It's likely not covid if you're testing negative. You probably have a head cold

If you’ve tested over a few days and negative it’s a cold . As someone who’s had covid twice now what I say is different to a cold in my experience is just overwhelming tiredness like too exhausted to do anything for a day or 2 . A cold you don’t feel like that usually.

Well, I had exactly the same. I had a sore throat and a headache. I did a LTF three days running, and all negative. But then I took a PCR purely because my daughter had to have one, so I booked as a family member and it came back positive for me and negative for my daughter. the following days later, my LTFs started to be positive.

Honestly, it's made me question the purpose of the lateral flows!

But now that PCRs are no longer available, if you are repeatedly using an LTF then all you can do is go by what they are saying.

My advice is try to stay away from people for a day or two until you feel better - basically the same with any other illness!

I’ve got the same symptoms and am surrounded by covid at work. I tested every day last week and today and all negative. DS5 has the same symptoms and tested positive yesterday.

I had these symptoms last week, thought it was a cold. 3 days later when I still had no energy and was still feeling ill I took a LFT and it was positive. I didn't think it was covid as last week the NHS was only listing 3 main symptoms, if you look now they have expanded the list.

Hello, last Monday I started to have headache, runny nose, really sore throat. Tuesday add in body chills. Wednesday pounding head, so so rough. Thursday still coldy and sore throat but able to do stuff.

Tested negative every day.

Today (Monday) I tested positive for the first time.
I feel like I am over the worst of it but still feel coldy and tired.

We've had a similar sounding thing in our house OP. My youngest is off school with it at the moment - headache, sicky, sore throat/cold symptoms. She's feeling very sorry for herself. Our oldest had it last week and I've been getting waves of nausea/headaches/feeling like I'm starting with a cold.

None of us has tested positive on a LFT, but from previous experience I have very little faith in the accuracy of the tests so who knows.

Our oldest was unwell for about 7 days, but never so unwell he didn't go out to college so I hope you feel better soon Smile

Tested negative again today but I'm also wondering if I am administering the test properly and maybe not getting a strong enough reading.

I feel awful. So won't be going anywhere anyway but would still like to know out of curiosity if it really is covid after all.

Benjispruce4 · 04/04/2022 16:13

I started with a dry mouth last week, then yesterday my nose wouldn’t stop running and I was sneezing loads but felt fine and actually did a spring clean. Today I feel bunged up and tired but LFT negative. Close colleague is positive . Only have 3 tests left so I’m stayin away from people and luckily I’m off work due to term time.

MermaidEyes · 04/04/2022 16:16

I started with exactly these symptoms then spent the next few days feeling a bit shite. Did 2 tests, both of which were negative. However, it was pretty much covid as two other people in my house definitely had it, so unlikely that I had something different. One of their tests was also negative. Honestly don't think they're particularly accurate.

LookdeepintotheParka · 05/04/2022 13:57

I have a sore throat and runny nose, aching muscles and fatigue. Felt nauseous for a few days beforehand too. Still testing negative but I'm staying away from people/work.

Its hard as work aren't taking staff illness seriously without a positive test. We have a culture of going in when ill and I hope that's going to change now we're in this phase of the pandemic.

Clevs · 05/04/2022 14:06

I've had a headache and tickly (not sore) throat and tickly cough for a week. Lateral flows have all been negative. Became a bit hoarse yesterday, tested this morning and got a faint line. Symptoms are a bit worse today than what they have been and my throat is now sore, but I don't really feel 'unwell'. If I'd not done a test I would feel well enough to go into work.

For some reason I had a feeling todays would be positive, not sure why but my instinct was right!

HomeHomeInTheRange · 05/04/2022 14:10

OP, my exact symptoms.

Don’t generally feel any worse than a mildish cold.

Tested positive this morning.

Saladd0dger · 05/04/2022 14:10

I had a really bad cold last week and kept testing negative. Went positive Thursday. Amazingly nobody else at home has it

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 14:19

I’m still negative. Full of cold but not tired.

MrOllivander · 05/04/2022 14:22

I've had a cold, blocked/running nose, tired, sneezing, sore throat and cough
Wasn't covid so probably something going round

worriedatthistime · 05/04/2022 16:27

Dh been saying felt tired last couple days but we have been quite busy , went to work this morning totally fine then driving home at lunchtime said tiredness hit him really badly again and he started to develop a cough
He came home and took a lft and negative in 30 mins but looked at it at 40 mins and faint line
So took another one , this time faint line appeared in 5 mins
Currently he's feeling very tired ,,slight cough and a bit cold like symptoms
Ds18 felt tired and sick last week and sore throat but was negative on LFT and only had covid in jan hard to tell if test says negative thats all we have to go by
But with no PCR how will they check for new variants etc
I know of more people who have had covid in the last 3 weeks than I do the entire pandemic
