Positive LFT on Day 11 - infectious but back into work?

Is anyone able to clarify this for me, even better if you work in a public sector, public facing role.

My understanding is that if there is a positive LFT, you are infectious. But my manager says I need to come back in on Day 11. I don’t feel it’s right. Can anyone advise please?

I'm sure when they changed the rules from 14 - 10 days they said it was because hardly anyone is infectious after that. Just some people take longer to stop shedding the virus than others. It's not that long since it wasn't recommended to test for 90 days as the virus could still show up.

^ The 90 day advice was for PCRs, not LFTs. PCRs don't work in the same way.

The test line on an LFT is coated with antibodies; the line shows up if there is active virus in your sample.

OP, I tested positive until Day 12 and worked from home until I was negative as I'm public facing with vulnerable patients. My line manager was supportive of this; the advice for my team was to be cautious around vulnerable people if still testing positive on an LFT.

I was told I was fine to do normal activities after day 10, but did hold off visiting a relative in hospital as still positive. So I'd say unless you work in a hospital or similar you're fine to go back to work.

Well since Friday, you only have to stay off for 5 days, with no requirement to test.
