Has anyone else been really sick with this?

Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of reassurance. Despite having avoided covid for the duration of the pandemic I came down with it last Tuesday...and have been REALLY poorly with it ever since! I managed to work from home on Thursday and Friday, but over the weekend and into this week I've been too unwell to get out of bed.

I think I might now on day 9 by finally starting to turn a corner, but has anyone else had it this badly? I am fully vaccinated so really surprised it has hit me so hard for so long. How long did it last for you?

Thank you!

Sorry you're ill but have you not read the zillions of threads on here about COVID over the last two years? Hardly a new observation that a virus can make you quite unwell bit like flu or pneumonia can. Get well soon and be glad you are vaccinated.

Me - day 8 and I feel nauseous and terrible headache - sleeping 10 hours and still exhausted.

Triple vaxxed and this is the first time I've had it.

bookworm100 · 30/03/2022 11:15

@procrastinationstations - sounds just like me! Perhaps it is because it's the first time we've had it that we're getting it so badly despite all the jabs. Hope you feel better soon!

You too @bookworm100 I'm so fed up, I know it could be much worse and grateful that I've turned a corner but just wasn't expecting to feel so bad......

bookworm100 · 30/03/2022 11:33

@procrastinationstations - we're in the exact same boat! Solidarity and fingers crossed for both of us we're feeling much more normal by the weekend.

I'm triple jabbed and have it for the first time and have been the same, it's been like flu and I'm only starting to feel better on day 12. Chesty cough and tummy ache and exhaustion been the main things. I felt surprised to have it bad as most people are saying the current variant is like a head cold. Take care everyone x

bookworm100 · 30/03/2022 21:59

Sorry to hear @Tallulaboo ! Yes that's why I posted too as it does seem many people are saying it's much milder so I was surprised to have been so very unwell. Thank god for the vaccine!

I dont mean to be impolite but if you were working from home a couple of days last week you havent really been that poorly. I'm sorry you've felt unwell but you really have no idea how lucky you are.

Stormchaser1502 · 30/03/2022 23:47

I too thought I’d be asymptomatic or have a ‘head cold’ after avoiding it until now.

Triple vaccined and been ocd with precautions!! Very fit and healthy normally, exercise daily and eat nutritionally well.

Day 19 and still not able to do much!! Now on antibiotics and steroids for a secondary chest infection. Can’t walk far without coughing my lungs up and getting out of breath. Body still aching daily.

I ask myself why I’ve got it so bad despite all the measures I’ve put into place to be healthy and protected. Ill
Never know.

This virus is hideous!!

Tallulaboo · 31/03/2022 13:37

Sorry to hear that @stormchaser1502 I had the exact same expectation as I'm fit and heard alot of people saying it's like a head cold. I'm on day 15 and chest infection is easing but still got an odd constant chest pain which sort of aches and the exhaustion from any exertion. Food tastes odd so not much appetite either. Take care everyone x

Ladywinesalot · 31/03/2022 20:41

Yes got very poorly with it.
Bad flu, couldn’t get out of bed first 5 days. Going to the toilet was difficult.
Constant fever for 5 days.
Now on day 15 and still fatigued.

Had it in 2020 and had breathing issues but not flu like.

TotalRhubarb · 31/03/2022 20:50

Sounds v similar to my experience. Day 12 and been able to do more the last couple of days, but still needing a nap in the afternoon and appetite only just returning. I feel weak and drained. I’m not vaccinated, and in late 40s, so wasn’t expecting to be asymptomatic, but it’s way, way more than a head cold. Very flu-like.

SometimesSunshineSometimesrain · 31/03/2022 21:14

I've been negative since Monday but I feel worse now than I did when I was positive. It's the tiredness, headache and occasional dizziness. My husband has just tested positive so I did the school run today and it felt like I did a 10k run ( it's only a 10minute walk)

WouldYouIfYouCould · 01/04/2022 12:46

I had it last week and had a horrendous sore throat. It was like a bad dose of tonsilitis with aches, pains and shivering but normal temp. I have recovered fairly well though have ongoing mild nausea and laryngitis. This is my second dose of covid and was mild in comparison to the first time (which affected my breathing and had me bedriidden for five days). I’ve had no vaccines in my life.
