Good morning all, I wonder if anyone can help with this. I have been feeling a little out of sorts for the last couple of days after being a very close contact to a positive covid case. However, I have now done 3 lft and none of them have even had the control line show up. I would think 1 may be a dud but all 3? Any ideas?

You might not have it?

You might have it but the levels are too low to detect?

RoseAndRose · 25/03/2022 08:16

That yes, you have had 3 dud tests, or you're doing something very wrong.

We can't possibly know - no control line means the test has failed and tells us precisely nothing.

Sorry you said the control line. Are you definitely doing nose or nose/throat ones? I think that makes a difference.

It doesn't make sense as they should work with just the fluid from the pack even if you don't swab so you should always get the control line. Do you have another box?

GeneLovesJezebel · 25/03/2022 08:20

If you have symptoms you need a PCR, not an LFT.

Are you following the instructions? Some use 2 drops and some use 4 drops

The control line should come up regardless though

Sorry read this after your first reply. Exactly, it makes no sense, I have used them plenty of times before and had no issues. I have tried from 2 different boxes, within date.

I had positive on flowflex (after 45 minutes) before I did on the old style nhs one. But it’s weird you aren’t getting a control line. I’d try again

ApolloandDaphne · 25/03/2022 13:19

I reckon you have a dud batch. Open a new box and try again?
