10 minute test

My daughter tested positive on the 10 minute tests, but I’m not 100% convinced she was ever positive.

She tested positive 3 (very faint) times over the course of 4 days, then negative. We tested earlier than the 5 days as we weren’t sure what day was day zero as she had some symptoms a day or so before she tested positive. She also tested negative a 30 min tests during that timeframe. She was snotty and that was her only symptom. I tested as she had loads off in her class with it.

I just doesn’t sound like the normal pattern as I don’t know anyone who managed to get negative test on day 5. Plus she wasn’t positive on the old tests.

I suppose as I haven’t used the 10 min ones before, I just don’t trust them. Has anyone had experience of the 10 min ones?

If she tested positive(3 times), and loads in her class had it at the same time, I'm going to guess she had it and the 30 minute tests just didn't pick it up

I found the flow flex tests nose only 15mins? Much much more sensitive when we all had it 2 weeks again. My ds line was weak even on it and negative again after 3 days so I reckon he just had it before the rest of us and was asymptotic.
I tested after a slightly weird taste one night and was instantly positive - I tested with both the 15 and 30 min tests before testing the kids on the off chance the 15 min one was wrong and both were positive but the 30 min one line was definitely a lot weaker in it. Even stil dh and I continued to test positive to say 10 for him and say 8 for me on the 30 min tests. Dd day 8 on the 15 min one.
If she got 3 positives she's more than likely positive

If she got 3 positive results, take it that she has got covid and work out when day 5 is from symptoms to do lft on days 5 and 6 and if they are negative, she’s free to end isolation.

LoganberryJam · 24/03/2022 08:47

It's definitely possible to have it and test negative on day 5.

Three false positives when the prevalence of covid is so high on the community would be pretty unlikely.

I tested negative on day 5 and 6. So did three friends who all had covid at the same time as me (we most likely got it from the same event).

I know someone who only had one positive LFT. She had to get a PCR for work which confirmed positive. Her family started to get symptoms a few days after her, so obviously caught it from her.

How faint is faint? My DS frequently gets a faint grey line on the flowflex tests. When we've followed up with a PCR they've always been negative. His real positive was a lot darker.

Thanks for all the replies. She’s out of isolation now and no- one else in the house has caught it. Although we only have the 30 min test left which didn’t show up her positive.

For info the test that came up positive were the newer 10 minute ones not the flow flex 15 minute.
