Fed up with constant cough

Hacking and continuous cough, a horrible cold and sore throat as well as chills and headache. That was 3 weeks ago but still left with the constant cough and cold symptoms. I am exhausted.
Is it meant to go on this long? I have lupus and work in a nursery which probably doesn't help but this does seem excessive?

I’m sorry that sounds awful. NHS advice says a cough of 3 weeks or more should get some medical attention so maybe try contacting your GP? www.nhs.uk/conditions/cough/

Couldn't get through to the GP. Still coughing loads and ribs are now sore. I am mentally drained.

I had the constant cough and it is just easing up after a month, so I feel for you. It was exhausting. I found Isla Moos pastilles helped a lot, if you can get them.

Could you ring 111?

DaisyChain16 · 25/03/2022 20:16

It'll be a post viral cough. I'm on week 8 and just showing some signs of improvement. It's been rough.

Are you on immune suppressants for the lupus? I wouldn’t leave it. Keep trying your GP or maybe 111. Hope it improves for you soon.

Yes, I am on immune suppressants. Feeling really worried now.
