What Day Does It Get Bad?

GD12 · 22/03/2022 13:35

2nd day + and I've maybe got a slight spacey headache and slightly phlegmy but I pretty much feel fine. Do you go downhill suddenly? I've read some posts that say after day 3 or 4 they go downhill dramatically? Sitting here very nervous about what is to come.

You are not obliged to feel bad at all.
DD has it right now - 2 days of having a cold and a slight cough then nothing. She got her module papers written while isolating
DH (not vaccinated) has it: a loss of taste and taking more breaks while WFH.
I had it last november: four days of cold and nothing else - not even a fever.

GD12 · 22/03/2022 21:13

Yeah I know. I don't feel great and I've got a bit of a productive cough and fatigue now but nothing terrible. My 4yo daughter is 4 days + today and her cough is a bit worse today. Just want it all to go 😩

Day 6 for me.

Day 1-3 were the worst. Been feeling better every day since late day 4 onwards

Christienne · 25/03/2022 19:44

I mean I’m on Day 6

ZenNudist · 25/03/2022 19:47

Huh? Don't go trying to feel ill. I had it recently spent a day in bed wasn't so ill I couldn't watch TV but slept a bit more than usual. No cough, bit of a headache. It didn't get bad. When I had delta I didn't even need a day in bed.

neveradullmoment99 · 25/03/2022 19:49

Ive not really felt that bad either.
Maybe tired and achey on the first full day of being positive.
Apart from that, have generally got better day by day.
Its not like the original virus. It was like two phases. The second phase was when it went into your lungs. That is when the issues start.
For most people with omicon, it only stays up in the upper airways and does not go deep into the lungs. That is why most people have a milder infection.

Jules912 · 25/03/2022 19:51

DH was worst days 1-3. I was worst days 4-6, which was actually quite handy as meant that we staggered our worst days. He recovered quicker too.

LightSpeeds · 25/03/2022 20:20

Day 1 was the worst, days 2-3 quite bad, then getting better after that.

KateTheEighth · 25/03/2022 21:10

I have it now

I started feeling rubbish last Saturday. On that basis I'm day 6 but I didn't get a positive until Tuesday

It's been a bad cold for me, nothing more. I feel fine now. Just really bored.

HesterShaw1 · 25/03/2022 21:14

You might be absolutely fine and not get bad at all.

Lindy2 · 25/03/2022 21:16

It varies for everyone. Not everyone even feels ill.

I had Covid a year ago before vaccinations. Day 8 was a common day for worsens symptoms and that definitely applied to me. I was really quite ill for 3weeks.

My brother has just had it and despite him feeling rough he's almost better after a week.

The vaccines really have made a difference - particularly in recovery times.

I hope you feel better soon.

PurpleDaisies · 25/03/2022 21:16

The first time, felt absolutely rotten for a week. then better for a few days then crushing fatigue from ten days or so in. Lasted a couple of months.

This time, just mild sore throat for a couple of days mild fatigue that’s ongoing after a couple of weeks.

Arcadia · 25/03/2022 21:18

Mine was like a slight hangover for a couple of days, never got worse, still a bit tired at times 3 weeks later though.

pupcakes · 25/03/2022 21:23

I'm on day 4 and have felt horrific today and yesterday- hoping it's the worst over with now. Don't worry op, some people are fine with it.

bumblenbean · 25/03/2022 21:29

Mine seems to be going up and down rather than following a linear course. Symptoms started Sunday night but didn’t test positive until Tuesday night. So I’m anywhere between day 4 and day 6!

Started with scratchy/ sore throat and then achey/ tired and tickly cough. Blocked nose when lying down, sometimes runny nose in day but nothing major.

Symptoms haven’t really changed but intensity has waxed and waned. It’s never been awful as in bed bound but have felt pretty ropey, then randomly better, only to feel crap again. Worst thing for me is the cough - not a hacking chesty cough but really irritating and dry.

Since yesterday I’ve had a new symptom - dizziness / vertigo which I think is probably some blockage in my ear as sometimes eat feels blocked / whooshing. Nights are annoying as tickly cough keeps me up.

So I don’t think there’s any reason to think you’ll suddenly get worse. Everyone is different but think it’s just a case of riding the waves! Although I’m freaking out vertigo will stick around for ages as last time I had it after a virus it lasted for months Hmm

Wordlewobble · 25/03/2022 21:46

I started slowly with runny nose and sneezing a little on Monday (negative), got a bit worse on Tuesday then had a faint line Tuesday night, strong positive LFT on Wednesday morning and positive PCR (sneezy, snottie, little bit heady and blocked ear), same Thursday and same today but seem to be getting better every day leas snotty but now with occasional cough. I am hopeful I am over the worst now would that be right?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/03/2022 07:32

It didn't for me. I'd say I probably felt worst on Day 3, but nothing worse than a bad cold.

Sunnycats · 26/03/2022 08:08

It's just so different for everyone I think. I avoided it for 2 years despite being around loads of people who had it, including my dd. I've got it now and it's really bad for me. Mild symptoms started on Mon/Tues but I didn't test positive until Thursday. I woke up about 3am as it hit me then all at once with a bang. I've been pretty much in bed since (on sofa) with every Covid symptom there is. And very, very weak. It's the worst I can remember feeling and this morning my throat has gotten worse for some reason.

My DH had it last week and felt a bit poorly for a day and that was it. I am really healthy and fit, I workout 5 times a week and hardly ever get ill and its completely taken me out. I'm really worried about long term effects now, as I genuinely never expected to have it so badly. I always figured I would get it like a bad cold.

So unpredictable Covid.

rainbowunicorn · 26/03/2022 09:28

You will probably make yourself feel worse by sitting worrying about something that might not even happen. Occupy yourself with normal stuff as far as possible. You are unlikely to become very ill.

I think people have no idea what being very ill even means as most of what people seem to describe on here as very ill is actually not. Yes you might feel rough for a few days but sitting worrying will not change anything.

WouldBeGood · 26/03/2022 09:34

I really wouldn’t worry @GD12.. we’ve all had/got it and it’s been a little different for everyone, but never bad. Worst probably a nasty cold.

BigButtons · 26/03/2022 12:30

I felt awful up until about day 7. I seems to improve. I even went back to work on day 11 but crashed really badly. Now on day 15 and I can barely move. Others who had it the same time as me at work are all back and coping. I feel like I am about it o faint and walking is nearly impossible.
I am on antibiotics for a sinus infection- brought on by covid.
I hate the way I am feeling. It’s so shit.

GD12 · 26/03/2022 13:34

Day 5 now and apart from a bit of fatigue I'd say almost back to normal. 1,2,3 were the worst but even at that it really wasn't bad at all, the slight cough i had went in a day. Lft has gone from jet black to lighter today also so good news. I'm sitting here thinking I'm losing my sense of taste and smell now although not sure if I'm being over anxious or not and imagining it.

@bumblenbean I had dizziness for a Couple of data about the same stage as you are now and I was worried too as I had it for years when I suffered poor health in my twenties. Seems to have mainly gone now (three weeks on) apart from if I get up too quick or get too tired.
