If the LFT is negative on day 5 & 6 are they really no longer infectious? Last time they had covid they were testing positive even on the 10th day.

Presumably so as the advice is that it’s over if you test negative on day 5 and 6. Anecdotally I’ve found people who have it the second time recover quicker, a friend tested negative from day 3 the second time she had it.

It is a balance of probabilities, explained here by the UKHSA for the reduction to 7 days but the same principles will apply.
