Is anyone following the situation in China? They’re bringing back hard lockdowns.

They have a zero covid policy still. Seems crazy now.

Family in Shanghai. Their entire apartment block is currently locked in their flats awaiting test results.

Not much is being reported about this but it's interesting what's happening there atm. Is it because they are trying to avoid what's happening in Hong Kong or something else?

China has a zero covid policy, as does HK in theory (although obviously that's not going so well for numerous, entirely predictable, reasons). Therefore if China gets an outbreak they attempt to control it by any means possible. Whether these means will be a match for Omicron remains to be seen.
