Has anybody had covid for a second time. Were you more ill 1st or 2nd time. We had Covid in Aug, DD has just tested positive this morning after feeling ill since Monday. She's worse this time, I am presuming ill get it at some point and wondering how ill be (although I know there's not an exact science to it)

I had it in November then again in February (triple vaccinated with booster in in October). Not particularly unwell either time but the second time I had nothing more than a sore throat for a day & a runny nose - LFTs were negative by day 6.

September and January for me.

1st time I had one day and night where I felt rough but I've had worse bugs. Also lost my sense of smell and taste and even now certain things smell horrible.

2nd time I had no symptoms at all and no one else in my house tested positive. I only tested as I work in the homes of elderly people so do a couple of times a week to be safe.

Dd had covid in December with no symptoms at all, we all had it so was testing her regularly.. then she had it again more recently and she had cold like symptoms but was pretty mild!

I'm currently on my fifth round of Covid. Quadruple jabbed.

First, February 2020, obviously pre-vaccines - pretty awful. Bad flu symptoms, cough/cold etc. It seemed to get better then came back more severely. Altogether I was ill for about a month.

Second, October 2020 - mild cold symptoms, slight cough, lasted about three days.

Third, August 2021, eight weeks past second jab - completely asymptomatic. I'd been a bit sneezy a few days before I tested positive but I often am in summer due to allergies so I put it down to that.

Fourth, mid January this year, six weeks after third primary dose of vaccine - mild body aches, runny nose, feeling out of it generally for four/five days.

Fifth, tested positive on Saturday eight days after fourth jab - the most blazingly positive LFTs I've ever had. I had increasingly horrible cold/flu symptoms for over a week before I tested positive. Currently have no sense of taste/smell, no hearing in right ear, aching all over, pressure in head/headache, nausea, stomach cramps, tingling skin, feel completely spaced out, absolutely knackered, chest pains, cough, snot, etc. Definitely my worst infection yet.

I'm so sorry to read about your struggle with so many infections.

I hope you start feeling better soon.

Dd1 positive for second time in 6 bloody weeks. Asymptomatic first time. This time slightly bunged up nose. Tested positive on Monday, negative by today.

I am testing negative but ended up falling asleep at 8.40 last night and have banging headache today. I will NOT be happy if this is a positive I tell you.....

libby09 · 17/03/2022 21:03

Hope your DD is OK.
I had it October 2021 and I have it again now. First time was awful, all the classic symptoms, sickness, intense headache, pain all over. Second time, I've had a sore throat, slight cough, and what felt like sinusitis for one day.

SurelynotCovidagain · 17/03/2022 22:11

My DD has tested positive today on LFT.

She also had it in January.

TweenTrauma · 18/03/2022 01:52

Me and my 2 DDs had it in September. I was really quite bad, felt pretty awful for at least a week. DD1 was also feeling very grotty, though not as bad as me. DD2 just had a minor cough.

2 weeks ago DD2 tested positive again and was definitely more ill than the first time (nothing major but worse than before). But neither me or DD1 caught it, despite living in a small house and not being able to stay away from DD2. I think because me and DD1 had a good dose of it in September, we maybe had enough antibodies to not catch it this time. None of us have been vaccinated. So don’t worry too much yet, you won’t definitely get it.
