Sore throat

I am experiencing a sore throat today but it's mild. I had a close contact on Friday and also again on Monday and Tuesday. We are fully vaccinated.

I am testing negative on the antigen tests. Will I presume this sore throat is the onset of covid for me and isolate anyways for a few days til the symptoms ease or I test positive?

I wouldn't isolate based on that, but would probably avoid non-essential crowded places and close contact with anyone vulnerable – and keep testing daily for a bit.

Remember, you don't HAVE to isolate at all in England now. It's just advice. So certainly no one could blame you for continuing as normal with a mild sore throat and negative LFTs.

This is now covid started for me and DH, he tested positive next day. It took 4 days for my LFT to come up positive, but as I was looking after 3 men with covid, I knew I probably had it also. Other symptoms I had next day were headache and coughing.

I came down with sore throat last night. There's no other symptoms today expect for some vicious heartburn.

This was the way I felt last year when I had tonsillitis.

I was so busy over the past few weeks I never had time for town or social activities so everything I did was limited to work and home and currently there was no other colds going around.

I can only presume this is the onset of covid.

I will probably know more tomorrow and Friday or Saturday. If it develops more or I catch it on a test at home.

Watching with interest - I too started with a sore throat last night, and today have been feeling a bit sick and light headed too. Lft is negative so far. I had covid last summer but without really any symptoms so I don't really know what to expect! Will test again in the morning but if negative I have to go to work as it's so busy.

I had a sore throat over the weekend for a couple of days. Negative tests. Didnt isolate.
Feel fine now. I think it’s just a sore throat bug going round!

I don't know how I would have picked up a sore throat bug. I am not doing any major mixing with people and. I wasn't around anyone sick.

I do have a covid contact who is positive at the weekend.
