There was so much more to the pandemic aside from wearing masks and using hand sanitizers

My mom went into a ranting mode this morning. She was ranting to me about the local shops not having the sanitizers any more and about a lot of people not wearing masks any more. She was ranting and raving and saying that covid is still out there and it's still going about and Holly has covid now.

I just had to walk away. My mother was someone who never wore a mask properly. She has the one cloth mask and if she was to go into town she would wear it all day even if it's a wet day and it got wet from the rain and I think at that stage there's no protection from a mask. She would wear it under her nose too because it's easier to breathe that way.

The worst of her habits was not covering her coughs and sneezes. She was never able to comprehend that part of the public health advice and she would cough and sneeze into the open even at home and in my face. We were at a function last summer and we were seated together. At some point she had to cough, she turned her head inwards to my direction and coughed right on over my plate and in my direction.

She was ranting away this morning judging everyone not wearing masks and unhappy about no hand sanitizers when there I was thinking, there's so much more to the pandemic than masks. Appropriate manners and cough and sneeze etiquette goes a long way too but she's someone who will never be able to grasp that bit.
