Testing positive LFT then testing negative

so tested this morning on lft as was visiting a vulnerable older person came back as a definite positive - had a slight tickle of a cough. Then an hour later tested again to be doubly sure as I feel well and completely negative - I have heard a lot about false negatives - but a false positive? I have just been for a PCR to confirm but are people getting faulty kits? Im triple vaccinated. really surprised as I've made it this far without getting even though through work I have regularly come in to contact with people who have had it and I have been testing regularly through my job.

I think there's a higher chance of a false negative than false positive, especially as you have a cough. Hopefully PCR will give peace of mind.

I got a positive lft a couple of months ago, reported it, did an lft 2 days later out of curiosity, totally negative! Obviously stayed isolating as had already notified the positive (and was feeling rough). Started LFTs again on day 5 to try and end isolation early, still very much positive until day 9 Confused. I'm triple vaxxed.

Good that you are getting a PCR OP as clearly the lfts aren't infallible.

It’s more likely the second test was faulty.

I’ve done another LFT and negative 🤞

I had similar! Tested positive last Monday, tested negative on day 5 and day 6, all good set to escape, then tested again day 7 just to be sure and was positive again... then tested positive again every day until yesterday.

This is why you need to get a pcr!

I’m waiting Pcr and assume that is the guidance I follow regardless of LFTs

It's more likely that it's a false negative. Plenty of people never test positive on LFTs at all, me and DS both had Covid and had numerous negative LFTs but both had positive PCRs.

Yep pcr back - positive

Has anyone tested positive on a lft straight away then looked again to find it's negative?
