Covid again within 90 days?

Family of 4 and all had Covid at the start of Feb. We all tested negative on lateral flows around day 10.

Today DD has developed a new cough so we've had to take her for PCR for nursery. What are the chances that she could have caught covid again? Is it possible in such a short time? She has been fine since we had covid (and actually didn't have symptoms at all when we did have it) so it's definitely a new cough.

Also if it did come back positive would they have a way of knowing if it's a new infection or old? It asked when booking if she'd tested positive in last 90 days.

We had it at Xmas and have it again. It's very possible. Lateral flows can be done after 28days but it's 90 days before you can trust PCR result as they may pick up the previous case.in your system.

Slightly scared it'll come back as positive due to the old infection and we will all be stuck in 🙈 Can't isolate from one another due to age of kids and size of house so if one of us gets it, we are all in!

Can you do an LFT? PCR will
Probably pick up the old infection.

My kids both have it again after getting it over Christmas, confirmed by LFT

Don't think the nursery will accept LFT results - I have done one and it's negative. Just really hoping the PCR will be too!!!

We all had it beginning of December, then my youngest had it again 6 weeks later, and then I had it again last month, so yes possible.

Guess I should prepare myself that it might be positive then! Eek!

Ppl who had it at Xmas likely had delta and then got omicron after. But you prob had omicron in Feb so v unlikely to get it again. Is my bet.

Exactly what I was going to say! Fingers crossed op Flowers

My friends daughter had it in Jan and then again last week. Felt worse the first time and just a mild cold the second time

Whathefisgoingon · 09/03/2022 05:10

Reinfection with Omicron is “possible but rare” according to studies. So, those who have had it at xmas etc likely had Delta.

Really looking forward to getting COVID 3 or 4 times each year going forwards Sad

Good luck op!

Raindancer411 · 09/03/2022 05:33

Friends son had it in December and has just had it again and only just returned to school. But this time he was only off for four days

Thanks, everyone. Still waiting on results. Not sure how long they're taking at the moment!
