Yes, I'm a Covid Contact Tracer and I hear this from people regularly. Most have chills, aches and nasal congestion as a first symptoms but many report gastrointestinal symptoms first, especially in children but no always.

My daughter had nausea and sickness as her first symptom. Hope you don't get too poorly with it, whatever it turns out to be!

JustAnotherCrack · 07/03/2022 20:16

Yes, I started with nausea and lightheaded for 2 days. The next day it all hit me like a truck, tested that day with an immediate positive.
Hope you’re feeling better soon!

I tested positive this morning... I have been struggling not to be sick all day. The nausea hits me in waves and the feeling is quite overwhelming. 🤢

amicissimma · 07/03/2022 22:30

Apparently there's a lot of norovirus about at the moment so it could be that ...

Doublechocolatetiffin · 07/03/2022 22:34

I was also going to say there are a load of sickness bugs going around too. I've had covid and didn't get nauseous. I have since also had two sickness bugs and they sound more like what you're describing, I was all hot and cold and sick. Yuk. I preferred covid.

Flowersandhearts · 07/03/2022 23:03

I didn't have nausea but did need the loo a lot (no diarrhoea, just needed to go a lot) for the two days before my positive LFT and I think nausea or bowel issues are a common first symptom.

If you actually start vomiting though, it's more likely to be a stomach bug.

@Nettyalf hope you’re feeling better now? Please can I ask how long you felt unwell?

Frosty1000 · 24/03/2022 22:29

Yes, I had horrendous d&v Friday night, a cold came Saturday then tested positive on the Sunday. The stomach issues went by the Monday.

JKDcot · 24/03/2022 22:32

Thank you for answering. Did you throw up from Friday to Monday??

Trumpetpants · 24/03/2022 22:39

I vomited and then had awful headache. My DD had aching legs then diahorea

Nettyalf · 24/03/2022 22:40

@JKDcot I am feeling much better thanks.... still struggling with feeling tired in the afternoons and my heart rate has been fluctuating all over the place.... up and down like a yo-yo 🙁
The sickness subsided after a few days and I have only really got my appetite back in the last few days... I seem to have been one of the lucky few that didn’t lose my sense of taste or smell 👍

I had a sickness bug (norvovirus?) recently that started off feeling nauseous, I was sick once or twice, but carried on feeling nauseous for about a week. Currently in the throes of what must be omicron (tested positive for covid) that for me started with a headache that got increasingly worse for a day, then eased off, but then cold and congested chest and cough started. Daughter and I did have a bout of diarrhoea at the start though.
