Confusing PCR question: please help

DD had Covid at Christmas so shouldn't do a PCR again yet I don't think?

However, she is a close contact (multiple family members, seen late last week) and as we are seeing vulnerable people later this week she did a LFT, which looks like a v faint positive. She has a v mild cough and slightly sore throat.

At this point I am not fussed about doing a PCR as it seems neither here nor there... But we are going in holiday (long haul, and I think would have to go isolation hotel if we test positive there 😭). In light of that should we PCR DD so that we can show she has recently recovered (if indeed she does have Covid again), or not bother as a positive now could be a false positive?

I am so bored of thinking about Covid!

If she is displaying new symtoms, you need to get a PCR done

You don't HAVE to get a PCR done, the positive LFT will suffice.

What the OP is asking is does logging the positive LFT generate a recently recovered from covid certificate for when the dd goes on holiday or does she need to do the PRC for that.

I don't know the answer to that, maybe someone else will.

Yes exactly, not logging anything at present as it really is an inconclusive test, will do another first thing and take it from there. I am just very unsure what to do for best re:PCR

I think in your situation I would be tempted to get the PCR done. They are more sensitive and then at least you know where you stand.

Thanks have ordered a PCR and will keep everything crossed that doesnt bite us on the bottom later on. I actually wouldnt mind us all getting it now, to reduce tje chances of succumbing to near to our trip.
