Scotland, extremely rural, stay at home a lot.

Family farm of us have had covid.

Last Wednesday FIL clear positive, had been unwell Monday Tuesday but thought it was his heart.

Anyway.

I tested my toddler and baby Thursday as we had seen them indoors Saturday before.

Toddler red control line, clear but thin positive line. I reported etc and kept her home.

Baby and I negative.

Friday toddler same line, no darker.

Today toddler negative.

I don't get it. Have I missed it completely? Or am I overreacting to a thin line and she has not had it at all? We didn't go anywhere from last Saturday to now anyway. So I suppose this could be day ten, with me first testing her day six. We are lambing so stuck here either way.

Should I have been looking for a thick red line.

I'm sorry I sound so stupid, I have extremely bad post natal anxiety, in some ways I would like to know if she has had it. She's been hot and sleepy but no cough, just runny nose.

Thank you so much.

Yes, your toddler has had Covid and is now no longer infectious. Sounds like she has had a mild infection so all good Smile

BakewellTart01 · 28/02/2022 09:15

Any line can indicate COVID so I think you did the right thing keeping her home.
I would assume she has had it and follow the guidance about when to stop isolation.

We had similar in our household at Christmas. One DD had positive for two days and negative the rest. Her PCR was positive though. My other DD didn't catch it. I did contract it on day 8 but only on PCR not on lateral flow.

Hope your toddler is OK with it though

Perhaps she was the initial infection and actually passed it to FIL. Who knows?! But she's fine, you and the baby have luckily avoided it which is great. Hope FIL feels better soon.

When DD had covid none of her LFT were positive so I wouldn't be concerned about further testing, if they had a positive I would presume they had covid.

This is why I love mumsnet.

I've been googling faint lateral flows, false positives, blah blah.

Thank you all so so much.

Yes she may have passed it. FIL was at a local lunch on the Thursday, I saw him the Saturday and he looked exhausted. I mentioned it to DH. Monday Tuesday he now says he was breathless. Wednesday positive.

I've had three faint lines from her, clear lines but not blazing red.

Baby is teething something chronic so I've only tested her a couple of times. Negative.

We are staying home regardless but i thought I had got something really wrong.

Presume she has had covid and please stop testing her now.

Peasandcabbage · 28/02/2022 09:26

@AnyFucker yes absolutely. She started preschool nursery a few weeks back but I notified them Friday she would be out this week. So I figure she will be fine by next week either way.

Won't bother with day six seven tests will just stay home this week.
