Symptoms but negative

DH tested positive on Wednesday. His symptoms have mostly been aches and fever.

I had a slight throat tickle last night, which turned into razor blade throat over night. I can feel it on my chest, in my ears, nose starting to get snotty.

Home test is negative. Though I did have a faff with the pipette thing and wondered if that’s affected it. But seems strange that I’m negative given DH is positive.

In early Jan, I had an awful cold/flu, tested negative on antigens and pcr… Then less than a week later DC1 got it. Again seemed strange that I was negative then a couple of days later DC got it.

Do some people just always test negative????

My (adult) DS tested negative 4 times the other week on lateral flow. He did it 4 times as he didn't quite believe it. Then had a pcr and it was positive and things progressed with symptoms similar to yours.
He is fully jabbed and boosted and had previous covid in Oct 2020.

Hope he’s ok now @campion.

We only had our 3rd vaccination last week!

There is a very very very faint line, so going for a PCR in a bit.

My husband had all the symptoms a few days after me. My test was immediately positive so I knew for sure I had it.
He took 2 tests both negative, but had a positive PCR test the same day.

Did you swab your throat even if the test was nostril only?

Some people take a few days after symptoms to test positive.

ReviewingTheSituation · 25/02/2022 11:05

Why are you going for a PCR? You say you now have a vv faint positive, so that's a positive. But unless your employer needs it for some reason, there's no reason to get a PCR any more.

You're not well, regardless of whether it's covid or not, so stay home, rest up and get yourself better. Getting a PCR will make no difference to the course of the illness, and the responsible thing to do is to stay away from other people so they don't get it (regardless of whether it's covid or not).

What difference will it make if it's positive?

I’m not in the UK @ReviewingTheSituation so different protocol.

Plus DC woke up late and is also unwell and as we’d run out of home tests, came for a PCR too.

I never tested positive on a LFT only by pcr

@TheSnowyOwl

^ this. Try to swab your throat & see results.

Some people also don’t swab far enough down throat/nostrils

It might be a few days before you get a positive test; hope you are all better soon.
