Family member has possible covid toe. We think they caught covid but was asymptomatic. The covid toe pain comes and goes but is very intense. Toes goes purple. Has anyone else experienced this? And advice? Wearing socks hurts toes as so sore but wears them to keep feet warm

Can they take antihistamine? I found this the best thing for the hives and Covid toes when I had Covid. Foot cream also helped with the itching.

Have they been tested for gout? Diabetes? An infection from a small splinter?

These can also cause painful, inflamed toes.

My son had covid toe but no other symptoms. We got some cream from the Dr as he had open sores where the skin had split. He wore really thick fluffy bedsocks which were nice and big so not tight on his toes and always wore slippers or sliders in the house. It took a few weeks but they did go back to normal eventually. Paracetamol and Ibuprofen for the pain.

Painful purple toes can also be a sign of poor circulation/vascular disease that needs medical attention. Especially if there are other health co-morbidities. I recommend seeing the GP for an assessment.
