If your child tests positive for covid are you going to send them to school still?

Just wondering really as friends kids have tested positive and she said they are gutted they don't have to stay off school. As a teacher I'm not looking forward to be surrounded by more germs 😭

Where from?

I'd have to send my dd in with covid as we've already been notified that we will be fined if she has anymore time off school so obvs we don't want a £120 fine. No idea why we got the fine warning as all her absences were covid related apart from 1 day.

Both my DC’s school have been in touch and adjectives for pupils to continue to isolate of they tear positive.

I'm not asymptomatic testing my dc anymore, so ifI do test them its probably because they are already showing signs of being unwell and would likely be keeping them off school anyway whether it was covid or not that was making them ill.

Enjoy the final 6 week of testing. After the Easter holidays, you’ll have no idea if they have covid or not 🥴🙈

We have had a letter too! Most of our absences have either been because we were waiting for a test result/didn't want to send DD to school with a non-Covid nasty bug to complicate life for other parents/or due to self-harm which was triggered in the second lockdown precisely because she WAS NOT allowed to attend school...hence I felt quite peed off to get a letter! It feels like you are going to be judged for sending your child to school and judged for not sending your child to school. Its quite clear from this forum that schools operate vastly different policies regarding their expectations of parents sending kids in so I'm not going to judge anyone whatever they choose to do.

I've never tested unless my child has symptoms so if they were ill enough to do a test, they would be off school, positive or not. I would potentially be sending a positive child to school as if they had no symptoms then there would be no need to test.

Depends if they're ill or not.

They've got exams in a couple of months so really can't afford to miss any more school unfortunately.
