Seems as though they are excluding CEV under 75?

It's for the people that had a 4th vaccine so immunocompromised, not age based

Yes, it's over 75's and immunocompromised over 12's.

The over 75s will get a 4th one I think? So their 4th vaccine, 2nd booster Immunocompromised it will be number 5, so 5th vaccine and will have had 3 doses snd 2 boosters

Ahh cross posting!

They seem to have announced 4th vaccines for some, and are debating on 5th for immunocompromised

I did wonder about that - I guess maybe some of us will be offered a booster next autumn with the flu jab

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 21/02/2022 17:11

I wonder if we will be able to get a 2nd booster privately if we want one. I can't see why not.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 21/02/2022 17:32

I'm still waiting for my 4th jab. There's no point giving it to me until a certain number of weeks past treatment as I won't respond. I won't get #5 until the autumn!

I wish there was free testing for antibodies TBH as I have no idea if the vaccines were working for me!

I did mine privately after 2 jabs paws and it wasn't good.

Curiousmouse · 21/02/2022 19:17

The thing is, if you have lung disease or another vulnerability, and the vaccine is waning anyway, then you are already very vulnerable, whether you are specifically 'immunosuppressed' or not. Then if you're older , even more so. Are those people just being left to go hang? It seems so to me.

Leftbutcameback · 21/02/2022 20:16

@pawpaws2022 I paid £60 for a test - appreciate not everyone can afford it but it did give me some piece of mind

Cookerhood · 21/02/2022 22:09

But no antibodies doesn't mean no protection at all. Neither does having antibodies mean you won't get it (I have bags of antibodies & have had it recently - very mildly). T cell.immunity is what protects against serious disease.

nether · 21/02/2022 22:13

I was trying to make sense of this.

Is it expanding number getting 4th jab?

Or is it giving 4th or 5th jabs to the most vulnerable?

I'm wondering if they are aiming for everyone who gets a flu shot on NHS to be offered a covid booster at the same time (autumn)

With a spring reinforcing jab for those with the most shit immune systems, plus selected aged/CEV groups

AnnieSnap · 21/02/2022 22:17

I hope they are planning to expand the groups for the second booster soon. I pushing 63 and Asthmatic, so I’d like mine within a reasonable time. More concerning for me is that my DH is 68 and diabetic.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 21/02/2022 22:29

Yes cooker I'm banking on that.
nether I think it's both. So 2nd booster for over 75s plus immune suppressed who were eligible for third primary and a booster and now a 2nd booster.

This. I have severe lung disease but because I'm not elderly or included in the 500,000 immunosuppressed I can't get a 4th vaccine it seems. I feel hung out to dry and just worried. Why are they leaving out the CEV?
nether · 22/02/2022 13:52

Why are they leaving out the CEV?

It's hard, isn't it?

The third primary was only for the subset of the CEV who are severely immune suppressed and for whom it's quite likely they have only a weak response to the vaccine or no response at all. It was to maximise the chances of there being a response (especially if you had AZ first time round and then had an mRNA shot). For some, the response might still be inadequate, but the hope is that the extra shot will mean at least some of them get the intended level of protection.

If the condition that led to you being CEV does nitneffect your immune system, then the jabs should work fir you on the normal schedule
