Faint positive LFT then negative test later

Has anyone experienced this?

I tested positive with a faint line on an LFT yesterday then to check I did a further test a few hours later and it was negative.
Very confusing.
Going to test again today.

Asymptomatic so don't need a PCR.

Yes my nephew had this over Christmas. Faint negative 1 day, then a negative later, then another faint positive next day (infection later confirmed by pcr).

My advice would be to not go visit your elderly grandparents right now.

You can get a PCR to confirm a lateral flow ( although who knows for how much longer). It could be the start ( or end depending how often you test) of an infection but my DS sometimes gets false positives on one brand of tests. I've taken to just repeating the test a few hours later as it was cruel to have him keep missing school while waiting for a PCR ( or better still just use a different brand of test).

Yes, this happened with DH. He got a PCR as he wanted to be sure, as he really couldn't afford to be off work at the time, and his PCR was negative.
