Tmi - snot after covid

Hi,

So I don't know whether anyone else has had the same or whether there's anything I can try to get rid of it but I had covid around 4 weeks ago.

From the start my nose was blocked but the whole time since, my nose is constantly full of thick clear snot. I blow my nose and there's just so much of it. Then 10 minutes later the same thing. I'm really fed up with it, even my throat feels like it's coated in a thick mucus.

Is this something other people have had and is there anything you suggest I try?

Thanks

Hi op, I haven't actually had much actual snot or mucus. But I have been very congested, experiencing sinus pain, post nasal drip and the feeling of a runny nose since covid - although not actually that much snot. My main covid symptom was extreme sinus pain and blocked nose! I'm a little further on from covid than you - about 2 months!

I wake up feeling snotty most mornings! Nothing really there, just the feeling of it. Very strange!

I have exactly this from when I had covid 3 weeks ago! Constantly lots of thick snot. I've tried actifed (they make me so sleepy though) and it helped a little but then gave me congestion headaches.

Sorry to say, op, but I had covid in November with lots of snot and it’s is ongoing now! I wake most mornings needing to do several nose blows and it comes off and on during the day. It has lessened, but I have never blown my nose as much as I have since having covid!

Have you tried sterimar? Twice a day...

delilahbucket · 20/02/2022 19:33

I had this but not for as long as you. Make sure you are drinking loads as it is your bodies way of lubricating itself. It is also worth steaming, don't put anything in the water.

DoctorSnortles · 20/02/2022 19:37

Another steam inhalation recommendation. I am absolutely full of it, too. I'm telling myself it's my body clearing out the virus.

isthisright22 · 20/02/2022 21:25

Thanks for the suggestions! Will give the steam a go Grin

I had this. Rinsing my mouth and gargling salt water helped remove the mucus from the back of my mouth. Also rinsed out my sinuses with some sinus spray.

koalalala · 20/02/2022 21:38

I really suffered with my sinuses after covid. Was having constant nose bleeds and congested to the point I literally had to mouth breathe.
It sounds dramatic but it was truly awful.
Anyway I eventually saw GP and they gave me antibiotics for a secondary sinus infection.
I was dubious but I started getting better within 48hrs so it was bacterial.
