It's not the worst symptoms and I know plenty of people have had much worse symptoms but when has everyone's smell and taste come back?

Mine only went partially and for a couple of days, thankfully. I had plenty of other symptoms too.

Bebeschitt · 19/02/2022 10:24

It isn't the worst but it's pretty miserable.
Mine was gone for about 3 weeks. DH still doesn't have his back. 3 months and counting. He gets the odd whiff of something here and there.
I was obsessively sniffing Vicks and essential oils though and he isn't. Maybe it helped. Maybe it didn't.

6 months plus here .. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s gone from no smell to phantom smells currently. A real joy.

Last January I lost mine, then in May it turned into Parosmia, and still not back to normal. Parosmia is when everything smells and tastes rotten. My diet is extremely limited as there's very little I can stomach the taste/smell of. 8st lost since May, so I'm looking at that as a silverlining!

@YungDumbThrills that's a huge loss! feel really sorry for you, that must be so hard all the time.

@Bebeschitt I've been doing the same 🤦‍♀️ I'm constantly smelling olbus oil (or trying to.. no luck yet).

🤞 it returns for everyone .

@Kat1901 It's not easy at all, I really miss nice food! And also the smell of my son 😢 I've recently noticed small changes though so hopefully I'm finally on the mend 🤞
Really hope everyone else doesn't end up with parosmia!

Bebeschitt · 19/02/2022 14:25

I know there's worse things to have (I'm a chronic pain sufferer) but I love food so my sympathies go to you all.
I occasionally smell burnt toast or cigarette smoke which is apparently a thing.
When mine came back it was gradual, like the ghost of a smell. Then the first 2 bites of a meal tasted.
The only advantage is not being able to smell the dogs poo when I'm grabbing and bagging 🤢

Covid Christmas 2020…can taste most food now but get phantom smells and nose blocks up if I am talking for too long and sound nasally!!

tadpole73 · 20/02/2022 00:16

Had Covid Oct 2021, not bad at all, but still have no taste or smell whatsoever and I used to have a heightened sense of smell prior.
