Daughter in close contact with a child who's just tested positive...

...I received two texts from NHS - one last night said test daily & she doesn't have to self isolate, the other this morning said she has to self isolate for ten days!?
We just tested negative.
She's got to go to childcare and me to work...
What do we need to do?

What does your nursery say to do?

Surely she must be close contact regularly at nursery the last few months. Plus I thought there was no self isolating under 18 or double vaxd.

Jules912 · 16/02/2022 08:52

Any chance you accidentally reported her test as positive (it's easily done!) as as far as I'm aware that's the only reason a child would have to isolate? (I'm in England but think it's the same for all 4 nations). I'd ring 119 to confirm.

Sorry for the delay all. It's not nursery, it's a half term school holiday setting (she's 8)
Thanks for the reassurance re U18/2x vac don't need to self isolate. No idea why i got that text? Fingers crossed everything will be ok, single parent here so very tricky to rearrange everything.

The official line is you still have to isolate as a close contact unless you are exempt. Exempt people include those who are vaccinated and under 18s so your daughter won't have to isolate

That isn’t true (the close contact part)
Looneytune253 · 16/02/2022 21:19

@Snooks1971 how not? That is the current rules

FawnFrenchieMum · 16/02/2022 21:32

We got the messages about having to isolate but they ended with a click the link to find out more and on the link it says no need to isolate if double vacced / under 18.

zebrachick · 16/02/2022 22:21

Yep, test every day no self isolating needed.
Would have self isolated & pcr'd a few months ago but seems to be the new guidance isn't that (while we still have guidance) 🤯
Thanks all X

My daughters best friend tested positive 2 weeks ago and she was with her the 2 days before as they always play together at lunch. My daughter or thier other 2 best friends never caught it. I didn’t think kids had to test everyday.... I thought it wasn’t for under 18
