How soon after did you test positive

DH tested positive on Sunday. He's pretty sure he caught it from a colleague who tested positive on Thursday. I've slept in the same bed as him since then and haven't had a positive test yet. How soon after did you test positive after a close family member? Trying to decide whether I should go to the office this week or not.

Well If you’re only using LFTs you may never test positive 🤷🏻‍♀️
Most people I know test positive within five days.

tigger1001 · 14/02/2022 07:52

I tested positive the next day and our youngest the day after.

MrsMigginsCat · 14/02/2022 08:01

I've done a nasal test and a throat and nasal one too just in case I wasn't getting a good enough sample. Still negative. Waiting game I guess.

My husband stayed in the same bed as me and didn’t test positive. I was still positive on day 10 though. It’s not always a given that you will catch it if a close family member has it.

Tigerblue · 14/02/2022 08:03

DH had had contact, so I slept in a different room for a week and tried to distance (due to fact that if I caught it after him, we couldn't go away). Day 7 after contact, we went back to normal as it'd got to the stage where if he got it, there wouldn't be time to recover anyway.

So I moved back into bedroom Sun even. DH started feeling off at work Mon. I had an iffy throat Monday pm (LFT negative). Tues am DH tested positive. I went into work, said to others if felt warm but they all agreed, so didn't worry too much. On way home, I started to have my serious doubts that I had covid. It took until Thurs am to test positive after a rough 36 hours.

dementedpixie · 14/02/2022 08:07

Dh had it. I didn't catch it despite sleeping in the same bed and the 2 kids never caught it either

Difford · 14/02/2022 08:13

My daughter tested positive on the Friday (although her symptoms started a day earlier) I tested positive the Tuesday after, so about 5 days.

Sweetmayday · 14/02/2022 08:19

I was 10 days after my husband and 8 days after my son. Thought I had got away with it but on my 8th antigen test I tested positive.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 14/02/2022 08:38

My DD test positive 7 days after my youngest caught it.
Eldest DD was day 11.
DP and I never tested positive at all.

Motherofcats007 · 14/02/2022 08:41

Never… I had it pretty bad and my husband shared the same bed the night before I tested positive and we were in the car for 4 hours together the day before, he somehow managed to never catch it

SushiGo · 14/02/2022 08:44

Before Christmas 1 person had it, no one else caught it from them.

This infection, most people in the house had tested positive by day 3, then final two tested positive day 6 and day 9.

I definitely think keeping isolated within the house helps, but it might just delay the inevitable if you have the more contagious omicron.

livinthedream1995 · 14/02/2022 10:06

My step dad tested positive 2 weeks ago today, symptoms started 2 days before he tested positive. He did his 10 days isolation and went back to work last weds. My mum and sister who live with him tested negative every single day during his isolation. Mum only went out to walk the dog, sister went to work and college. Mum tested positive on Friday and my sister today - given my mum hasn’t been anywhere and my sister who has been going out tested positive 3 days after my mum, chances are at least my mum caught it from my step dad. So 13 days after my step dad first got symptoms and 15 days for my sister if she caught it from him and not somewhere else 🙃

Porcupineintherough · 14/02/2022 10:51

I tested positive 7 days after ds1 started showing symptoms, and 4 days after he tested positive. My symptoms started 24 hours before I got a positive test.

Whathefisgoingon · 14/02/2022 15:16

To those saying they didn’t catch it, it sounds like that was premomicrom and more likely delta.

Omicron is highly contagious, if you’re sharing a living space with someone they will almost certainly get it.

I tested positive Saturday and DP tested positive Monday.

BlueSoul · 14/02/2022 15:18

I tested positive on Friday and my DH today.

cheesypeas123 · 14/02/2022 15:18

DH tested positive Saturday morning, me and son this morning so 48 hrs. Husband isolated upstairs away from us however likely already contracted before he tested positive.

Dinnertime22 · 14/02/2022 15:20

Nobody got it in the house when I had it.
This time DD tested weds, dh Sat and still waiting for ds to test positive. I am still negative.

TheOldLadyOfThreadneedleStreet · 15/02/2022 08:51

Interesting, DH tested positive last Thursday, after a couple of days feeling ill but testing negative. Still no symptoms this am, DD doesn’t have symptoms either yet.

FrenchFancie · 15/02/2022 14:57

I have omicron, on day 9 and so far dd (unvaccinated) and DH are clear. I’m hoping they get away with it as half term is coming our way!

MrsMigginsCat · 15/02/2022 17:45

I'm still negative so keeping my fingers crossed. If I get it, I'd kinda like it to be this week. I have plans next week and I shall be very upset if I have to can them!

I tested positive Saturday and DP tested positive Monday.

I had covid three weeks ago so I assume it was omnicrom. Symptoms were more omnicrom reported ones rather than delta. Shared a bed still with dh and he didn’t catch it.
CovidCorvid · 15/02/2022 17:48

And Dd currently has it and her bf is still negative on LFT and they live together .

I suppose he could have had it previously without knowing and got antibodies?

Sarahbeeney · 15/02/2022 19:11

I tested positive on Thursday…. Dp on the Sunday

mamakoukla · 15/02/2022 22:57

Tested positive 2 days after symptoms; before that tested negative

mamakoukla · 15/02/2022 22:58

Should add -lft
