3 year old didn’t get it

I tested positive last Saturday, then my partner tested positive on Tuesday.
Our 3 year old DS is still negative and apart from being snotty and a bit bunged up, is showing no other signs. Perfectly fine in himself.
We don’t test him everyday as he screams and really hates it.

My 4yo didn’t get it from us then weirdly a few weeks later got it from school I’m assuming as tested positive, but it was about 3 weeks later!

It might be worth a pcr if you aren’t getting a good sample for lateral flow but it’s entirely up to you really. Snotty may now be seen as a symptom worth testing? I don’t know though

My 3 year old tested positive 11 days after our 5 year old tested positive (the first case in our household - brought it home from school) and 5 days after DH and I tested positive.

It's weird though because the 2 children spend all day literally lying on top of each other!

Your probably just not managing to do the test properly.

Whathefisgoingon · 14/02/2022 07:28

I’d say you’re probably not getting a good enough sample.

Omicron is so contagious, it’s really unlikely your child that has direct contact with you 24/7 will not catch it.

I thought our 2 year old had escaped it until I got a decent swab from nose AND throat and it was a strong positive straight away.

Any chance the 3yo got it asymptomatically at nursery, is now recovered and passed it onto you?

If you haven't tested every day, there's a chance you missed it. I know someone who only had one positive LFT. She tested positive next day on PCR and her family caught it a few days later, so no doubt she had it.

We all had it a week ago and only my 4 year old tested negative throughout but did have cold symptoms and a temperature. We are convinced he had it and the test just didn't pick it up. Apparently lfts are missing omicron for some people. We didn't bother with a PCR as we were isolating anyway.
