Hi lovely people

Our 5 month old DS tested positive last week. After a few days of fever & cough he has slightly improved but now is left with a cough and no voice at all. His cries are all silent. I feel soo sorry for him.
Don't laugh at me, but will his voice return? Should I be worried?

Speak to your GP, no question is too trivial with a baby.

Hi there
I have just recovered from covid and lost my voice for 3 days. When it came back it was croaky for a few more days before returning to normal.
Speak to your gp if you're worried but I'd think it's just the way omicron effects some people.
Hope he recovers quickly. X

I tested positive yesterday evening and lost my voice this morning. I would certainly check with GP given your child's young age but I imagine it's not an uncommon symptom/side-effect.

Hi did you get in touch with your GP about your baby loosing their voice. My baby is 4 and a half months and has recently tested positive. She now has a very croaky hoarse voice and silent cry. Its awful

Hi. I didn't in the end as after a lot of research it seems it's quite a normal symptom From memory I think his voice returned after 10 days or so

I made sure I have him calpol everyday for 2 weeks in case of any discomfort and offered lots of feeds + nasal drops as he had a stuffy nose.

I Hope your little one gets better very soon 😘 xx

Also forgot to say that although I didn't get in touch with the gp .. my mums friend who is a nurse gave me some reassurance that it was normal too. So maybe give your gp a call in the morning and see what they suggest 😊

I always find it reassuring when I speak to a doctor or nurse 😃

My DS had RSV and pneumonia at 5 months and lost his voice. He cried silently and then slowly started making a "woo woo" noise when distressed. Like you op, it took around 10 days/2 weeks for his voice to return.

Joannefirsttimemam · 05/04/2022 11:17

Aww thank you for your reply. Its such a worry. I'm keeping on top of calpol so hopefully it helps her
Xx

We took her to hospital last night to have her checked over. Sats were all fine and breathing was normal. Just put my mind at rest. Hopefully she recovers soon xx

We took her to hospital last night and had her checked over. They said it was normal and other than that she's doing well. So I'm pleased. Just needs more rest and hopefully she will be back to herself in a couple more days xxx
