Waking up at 4 AM with covid

I have a mild case but ever since I tested positive I’ve been waking up around 4 AM and struggling to get back to sleep. I don’t have a cough or anything like that so it’s not waking me up!

Anyone else?

Both DH and I had this in the first wave. He'd wake up w terrible viral itching and I just woke up and couldn't sleep (I had terrible COVID insomniagenerally tbf). I remember talking about it with other people so it definitely can be a weird COVID thing.

Yes, it's supposed to mess with serotonin and melatonin levels. I'm having this a bit plus that's the time my asthma is deciding to be a little annoying.

Yes. I'm sleeping really badly, but assumed it was because I am mostly just sitting in a chair, feeling crap, during the day instead of tiring myself out racing around at work as I normally do.

Thanks all.

I am feeling somewhat anxious about it, in case it’s something to do with breathing issues during my sleep, but when I do wake I feel totally normal, I’m not out of breath or anything like that, so I guess it wouldn’t be.

Both DH and myself only slept 2-3 hours a night for first few nights. I'd tried to have a nap in the day but just couldn't get off. Can't remember which day, but I suddently realised I slept ok, and then have a couple of naps the following day - my body obviously needed to catch up!

I think they should add insomnia to the symptom list. Despite bad fatigue I could not sleep. Felt quite wired.
My DM was the same and for my DB insomnia was his first and only symptom (which made him test).

DP struggled with sleeping, he could only do a few hours at a time so was cat napping during the day but he’s been much better the last couple of days. He’s on day 10, and he had his 2nd neg LTF this morning.
